Pico Monaco barely beats De Chaunac (ranked around 500)

It was 6-7(11) 6-3 7-6(3) for Pico. A win is a win, but a bit worrying considering De Chaunac is ranked around 500 and plays mostly futures

6 of his last 22 tournaments were Futures, so how is that "mostly Futures"?

This year he's played 16 Futures matches and 11 Challenger matches. This is his first ATP match of the year. So yes, currently he plays mostly Futures and the smilie is unwarranted.

That's just a cheap try to get out of it. Just admit that you were wrong.

Re: Pico Monaco barely beats futures player De Chaunac

De Chaunac did have a little run at one time where he got into the slams and bigger tournaments so on a good day he could make a decent player work.

Crikey, he's a slow starter, isn't he?

No, the smilie is very much warranted.

Sébastien is a Challenger-level player. The fact that he had to play Futures was because his ranking collapsed after a very long period of injuries. Playing mostly Futures does not mean that you are a Futures player. Following that logic, Cañas would have been a Challenger player at the end of last year, simply because that was pretty much all he played in order to get his ranking back up.

De Chaunac is definatly a lot better than his ranking.

Oh and clearly that Davydenko match was fixed, I would bet ezekiel's life on it.

Huh? This year he's played mostly futures, that's what I said and it's factually correct (I didn't specify "this year" but it seems obvious to me that what he did a few years ago is not very relevant to yesterday's match). Yes, he's seen better times and yes, he's had a few good wins, and yes, he USED TO play mostly challengers. The fact remains that lately (2007) he plays mostly futures matches and is ranked below 500, which is a typical futures ranking. By the way, he didn't even win any of those futures and loses in the first round of many of the challengers he plays
