Tomas Berdych in Bercy, he was ranked #52.

Qualifiers have won TMS events such great names as Roberto Carretero, Albert Portas, Juan Aguilera.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

It is however the first time that a player not in the top 10 beats world #1, #2 and #3 in the same tournament.

thanks..
i thought it was either Berdych or Henman @ Paris.
..didn`t realise Berdych was ranked #52, i thought it was closer to Top-20 @ the time.

now there`s something worth boasting about to his grandkids
this time i`m not be sarcastic, Dave can hold his head up high & be proud
possibly Dave`s finest performance [05 TMC was marred by FED`s injury & Dave lost a RR match]!

I appreciate your contributions on this board , but what's the need to bring up Fed's imaginary injury in almost all of your posts about Nalbi? . Fed wasn't injured, he won all other matches and was perfectly fit to finish a 5-set match in the final. That said, I do agree that today's win was more impressive because he beat world's #1, #2 and #3.

It's very impressive, it's like when Wilander won RG in 82 and he defeated from the 4th round the 2nd, 5th, 4th and 3rd seed.

As for the Fed injury thing, well what can you say it was imaginary.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I`m beginning to doubt FED`s injury myself, but it can`t be denied that FED didn`t have adequate time to prepare for TMC in 2005: he was in crutches just 2-weeks b4 the 1st RR match

I agree Fed was not in top shape. But not being in top shape is very different from being injured.
And Nalbi was on vacation just a couple of days before the TMC.

You know, ironically if this was WTA, people would be lamenting the frailty and the weakness at the top of the women's game. Why is this not brought up in this case? Personally, I don't buy into all that.

I love tennis because of...

Andre Agassi (always #1)---Novak Djokovic ---Rafa Nadal---
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga---Gilles Simon---Tomas Berdych---David Nalbandian---Nico Almagro
