Will Nalbandian come back to Top 10 Ranking after AO?

If Nalbandian continues to play that well, I believe he could easy come back to Top 10 after AO

Or maybe After Miami

GO Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, Borna Coric, Vasek Pospisil, Thomaz Bellucci, Kei Nishikori, , Milos Raonic, Jerzy Janowicz, Grigor Dimitrov, Dennis Novikov and Bernard Tomic

Thiem will be top three by Dec 2016
Borna Coric will be No 1 by Dec 2017
Nick Kyrgios will be No 1 by Jan 2018

I don't think it's possible. If he loses to Nole in the next match he is only defending points. He also has a TMC semifinal to defend and he won't even make it there this year. Maybe after the American hardcourt masters next year.

Yeah, he would need to go far at Paris AND an AO final. Not realistic. But he should be back in the top 10 sometime next year.

Whats all this hype about Nalby? Coz he won 1 match against the second best player in the world who didnt even put up a competition? I really dont think that this result would be possible had they both been in top form..

Re: Will Nalbandian come back to Top 10 Ranking after AO?

No. As others have pointed out, he hasn't gained any points this week and won't gain many pre-Australian Open certainly. Nalbandian has rarely played Paris, let alone fared well there. Also, would a Nalbandian reappearance in the top ten, unless he is next year's strange Australian Open, be a poor reflection on tennis rather than a postive one? He's not even won 25 matches this year, if he plays a fuller schedule and makes more than two quarter-finals then he might come close to top ten.

No, he is too inconistent. I would hope to see him in the top 10 sometime during the clay season.

Perhaps it was Nalby's play that caused Nadal not to be in top form today?

Re: Will Nalbandian come back to Top 10 Ranking after AO?

I think just after the Australian Open is a bit too soon.

If he keeps up the good form he's shown in Madrid (so far he's just defended his Madrid points and would need to at least make the final to add points from Madrid) by playing and doing well in Paris (where he's defending nothing) it could help his ranking settle inside the Top 20 but then again he has semi final points at T.M.C. that he obviously won't be defending.

I don't think he has any points to defend at any of the warm up tournaments to the Australian Open (lost first round of Chennai and didn't play Doha or Sydney) and only 4th round points to defend in Melbourne so he could be ranked between #15 - #17 after the Australian Open.

I don't think he has much to defend in the Indian Wells-Miami double do maybe after those tournaments he could potentially be Top 10 but from now until then he'll have to be very consistent.

Yes, but it's this whole on and off form thing with David that makes him impossible to predict

lol well he needs to be consistent, he's just currently defending points. He needs to beat the bitch first

Grigor Dimitrov: FedererBulgaria
Borna Coric: Crowdmaker
Nick Krygios: Dan.
Tommy Haas: Leng Jai
Sebastien Grosjean: Myself
Novak Djokovic: Chiico (Leader of the No1e Cult)

Re: Will Nalbandian come back to Top 10 Ranking after AO?

As extremely unlikely as it is, based on current rankings of the Top 20, Nalbandian would be world #12 if he won both Madrid and Paris.

Even if he loses to Djokovic fortunately for him he has nothing to defend in Paris so that could help him with cementing himself in the Top 20 by the end of the year (That is, if he bothers to play Paris).

I don't even think that is possible even if he wins every match until then.

Nadal was crap today. Nalby played well, but honestly it was not because of him that Nadal was such shit.

As for Fat Dave, I'm going to wait at least consecutive good tournaments before I even begin to make predictions about his return to the top. Every time I see him I wonder why he's not in the top 5 already, and then a few days later he shows me why. Until he proves me wrong, my skepticism about his desire and effort level remains. His talent has always been unquestioned.
