Considering all of the main players who are currently between #8 - #14 in the Race have been eliminated early in Madrid, Andy Murray could be #8 in the Race if he wins (possibly #7 should Gonzalez lose in 3rd round) or finishes as runner up in the Madrid Masters.
Should Murray be beaten by Nadal in the 3rd round or in any match before the semis then I don't think he'll have a serious chance of qualifying.
Considering his form against Stepanek and Chela I think he could have a good chance against Nadal and may even make the final if his form remains where it is.
