So why did Stan get a SE for Madrid?

Vienna is a lower ranked tourney, after all.

Re: So why did Stan get a SE for Madrid?

He was supposed to play in the Qualie tournament, but was unable to due to his run in vienna.

Doesnt matter if it was a challenger or what ever, if he couldnt make the qualie draw due to a deep run in another event, he is granted a SE spot.

Okay, I didn't know about that. Theoretically he would also have gotten the SE, if he hadn't planned to play Qualifying, right?

I thought SEs only applied to tournies of equal tiers, too.

So ISG equals MS? What about IS and ISG?

Okay so you can get SEs for TMS if you're deep in an ISG and vice versa but not IS.

And you can't get an SE into an ISG if you're deep in an IS, interestingly.

No I think it means any IS event including ISG.

To sum up, you get SEs for tournaments of equal or lower tier than your previous tournament, with the exception of ISGs into TMS events.

I don't think we're disagreeing - if you are in an IS event, you cannot get a SE into an ISG tournament is how I read it.

So in the case of IS you can't trade up to an ISG next week but you can trade up from an ISG to a TMS with an SE.

Yes you're right. I mis-read your post.
