Hewitt to miss the indoor season again? (article)

Nothing has been confirmed at the moment, but it seems like Hewitt has been struck with some niggling injuries (again) and he hasn't played much of the indoor season in the last few years. Seems like this year could be the same, but I wouldn't write off his whole season yet since he seems more determined to get his ranking back up than previous years where he was more focused on preparing for the Australian Open.

Injuries may end Hewitt's year

October 11, 2007

INJURY may have prematurely ended Lleyton Hewitt's roller-coaster year.

Hewitt has returned to Australia for treatment on unspecified problems after bowing out in the Tokyo quarter-finals to Croatian Ivo Karlovic on Friday.

Hewitt's manager David Drysdale said the baseliner would know in the next few days if it was possible to contest Masters Series events in Madrid and Paris this month.

"We won't be able to make a decision on whether we go to Madrid or Paris until we speak with a few other people regarding Lleyton's injuries," Drysdale said.

Asked what the injuries were, Drysdale said: "There's a couple of little niggles that we need to check out."

Hewitt has been dogged by calf and knee complaints this year. If he is ruled out of the season-ending European indoor circuit, he will lose the opportunity to improve his ranking of 19.

Hewitt's seeding for the 2008 Australian Open will be determined by his ranking. If he misses Paris and Madrid, he will have few opportunities to get back in the top 16 before the January 14-27 grand slam.

A top-16 seeding guarantees protection from the tournament's leading lights until at least the fourth round.

If he is sidelined for the rest of the year, he will bow out with a 35-16 win-loss record and a sole tournament title in Las Vegas.

Hewitt will prepare for the new season in Sydney with coach Tony Roche before resuming in Adelaide at Memorial Drive.

It's hard to know whether this article is blowing it out of proportion or not.

He could very well be hampered by a minor injury and be able to play again in a week's time or so.

when he needs to be trying to get extra points, he's missing another indoor season. Really disappointing.

Rocky & Llegs are two nicknames for Hewitt
*his favourite movie is Rocky & he used to listen to the theme music to get himself pumped
*Lleyton was famed for being one of the fastest & it sounds like his name~ hence Llegs

##
Hewitt`s not playing Madrid due to some niggling injuries
Thus he doesn`t play Madrid for the 6th year in a row-> he`s never showed up there
