ATP website says Moscow is played on carpet...

Never cared much for the ATP website but getting the surface of a tournament all wrong must surely be a new low. How can they not know that Moscow is played on hardcourt?

What's next? Wimbledon being played in April? Roland Garros on indoor hard?

I am watching Moscow on TV right now and it sure as hell isn't carpet. The tournament's fact sheet says Rocahard. At least the organizers have figured out the surface...

I thought it was carpet, that's what the ATP website has always stated. But watching it on TV it certainly looks like a hard court. Also, it says hard on the drawsheet:

they slowed the courts down like any other tournament. don't think we can talk about carpet here.

It's been on carpet since the 90s.

Re: ATP website says Moscow is played on carpet...

Maybe GlennMirnyi, but now it says that it's played on Rukothard which is not carpet.

Maybe it's new for this year?

Comments from some WTA players:

Serena Williams: The surface of the court is kind of weird - Serena noted. - It is rather slow and the ball bounce is sometimes high, sometime low, - it is kind of unusual for me because indoor courts are typically faster.

Anna Chakvetdaze: It is as slow as the previous one but the rebound is high

Svetlana Kuzenetsova: I hope that I will get accustomed to the surface laid on the court of the Olimpiysky stadium as we had already played on the same surface in the Fed Cup

So it seems like the surface has changed and GlennMirnyi owes the thread starter an apology

it's no carpet. you just have to follow the scoreboard. too many breaks for carpet.

I'm not there. I just pointed it has been on carpet since the 90s.

Maybe you should apologise for offending our eyes with your stupid Nadal avatars, eh?

You asked the thread starter if he/she was nuts and then insisted that the tournament was being played on carpet when people watching the matches, and the tournament site, said it was being played on Rukothard. I have no idea what it's being played on but I'd probably check the facts before I went around calling people nuts and dismissing the posts of people actually watching the tournament.

If anyone is offended by my avatar I certainly feel sorry for them
