Tokyo R3: Tomas Berdych def Mike Russell 6-4 6-2 to avenge Indian Wells defeat

Too bad this match wasn't on centre court, but a good win for Berdych taking revenge on the loss to Russell in Indian Wells this year.

Talk about a shit scoreboard from the tournament site. They can make great electronics in Japan, but can't get a decent scoreboard, they should just use the ATP one.

Big opportunity for a title here for Berdych.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Good win for Berdman he should have a great indoor season. Also, a big fuck you to the tournament site for the shitty scoreboard.

Solid win from Tomas, now he faces Verdasco in the quarters. Any match report would be appreciated.

Surprising that they don't use the standard scoreboard, what they have is total and utter crap.

I know someone who is at the event and I think she was going to watch this match then Hewitt.

Berdman when playing well has the game and the firepower to dismantle Russell. The match with Verdasco anything could happen there.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Both served at a very high percentage and Russell converted from 1/8 bps and Berdych 4/10. Ironic considering both of them haven't been doing well in that section of the game recently.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Serving at 78% first serves must be very rare for Tomas, but Michael also had a high %. Tomas should be the favourite against Nando but I agree that anything might happen in that match.

Hopefully we'll see a Berdych/Gasquet semi final (And a Ferrer/Hewitt one in the other half).

There is a difference here. Berdych only played Bangkok to honour his commitment to the event after all the withdrawals. I mean he was celebrating on Sunday night after Davis Cup, then has to fly to Bangkok and it's not like he arrived there in peak form.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Well, almost always His 1st serve percentage is usually very high, at least it was in most of those matches I've followed.

Hmm you're right, but he's playing 3rd consecutive week now, then he's scheduled to play Stockholm next week and then Madrid after that I'm wondering how he's gonna handle all that.

Yes, it's true, just keeping you on your toes. I have seen him serve poorly with a low percentage, but it's not common.

This is an ISG event, so I think he will put more effort into this one. It depends on how he does here, say if he wins Tokyo, then plays Stockholm it could be an early loss, then get enough days off before Madrid.

Well he is scheduled to play every week up until the Masters, doesn't mean he will play all of them.

Mike is in the semi finals of the doubles with Kendrick. They defeated Pala/Skoch 7-6 7-5.

Hope they can win the doubles even though Kendrick is a fool.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
