Metz 1R: Julien Benneteau def Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4 6-1

Disgraceful. 4th consecutive loss (Blake, Verdasco, Kiefer, Benneteau).

Wow.
The little match report on the tournament website doesn't mention any injury. Just that Paulo was playing horribly.

I really wasn't expecting that one, all the more at his home event, he said his family and his friends are there.

Didn't Mathieu win a number of matches in New Haven, so that's three consecutive losses?

Yes, you're right. 3rd consecutive loss it is. Doesn't make any of us feel any better though.

Seems the pression of making the top 20 could be having an impact on Paulo and coming from Strasbourg, this is the closest he will have to a home event.

“ On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

It seems like he hasn't done well ever since he blew that two sets to love lead against Verdasco.

What the hell has happened to Paulo in the last 2 months or so?!?

Disgustingly bad loss.

Losing from 2 sets up in the US Open probably decimated the confidence he'd been building up all year.

Disappointing... Sort things out, Paulo
Oh well, at least he admits he sucks. That's a good start

Congratulation Julien

why, did he say something in post-match interview?

PHM was one of the hottest players on Tour heading into the Open. I wonder what happened. I guess that loss to Verdasco pretty much demoralized since he looked like he was primed for a huge showing at the Open.

He said it was the worst match of the year. Good to hear he plainly sucks, no injury

Classic PHM happened. Same thing that happened last year
