Is it possible???an all argentine semifinals???

in the last 16 there are 4 argentines, Nalbandian in the first section of the draw, Gaudio in the second, Coria in the third section, and Chela in the lower part of the draw.
I know that could be becuase i am argentine and i want it to happen, but is it possible that we can see an all-argentine semifinal as last year in the masters of hamburg????
Kuerten
vs.
lopez

safin
vs.
nalbandian

andreev
vs.
gaudio

hewitt
vs.
costa/malisse

moya
vs.
robredo

escude
vs.
coria

llodra
vs.
henman

chela
vs.
mutis

i think the most difficult draw is for nalbandian but safin is tired and i dont think kuerten can do it again.

It is possible because the Argentines are not only an abundance in number, but they have the games behind it. BUT.....

MY CARLITOS is still in it and is a force to be reckoned with!!!

"i'm not here to do a cinema" - jhh talking to the press about her match
against kournikova (which she won easily), us open 2000

Re: Is it possible???an all argentine semifinals???

I think the odds of all 4 pulling thru are too low, but the fact they still have the chance only two rounds apart, and that they are not individually long shots in any of them, is really remarkable...

Funny thing the strongest two (David and Guille) have the most diffcult draws, so none is a sure thing... they can go from 0 to 4...

It could happen, but you never know when a player's gonna have a bad day and loose. It might not happen tho. who knows.

Nalbandian's worst surface is clay, I can't see him getting past Kuerten and Safin

I never got the statement about Nalbandian's worse surface being clay, everyone always says it. The guy's a backboard without a top notch serve and volley game. Sounds like a clay courter to me.

Re: Is it possible???an all argentine semifinals???

i dunno, i would think it was a possibility, but tennis is sometimes all about luck!

Nieminen- The lucky lefty of tennis.
Sampras- The hairy champion of tennis.
Ferrero- The mosquito of tennis.
Srichaphan- The Thai- ger of tennis.
Safin - The of tennis.
Bagdatis- The quotesman of tennis "my coach will watch, i will sleep with my girlfriend"
Kiefer- The naive guy, "yeh, me and seb are good friends"
Santoro- The double handed wizard of tennis.
Lopez- IS my hair right? IS my lipstick right?
Moya- The tatoo and muscles of tennis (although nadal kicks his ass in that department).
Tipsarevic- The tatoo of tennis, competing with moya.
Djokovic- Stole Jiri's surname

Sorry if I left out your favourite, just PM me to let me know-- thanks.

Lleyton I think is the one that's the hardest to beat for the Argentine Gadio. Coria will take out Moya And Chela is good euff. Safin is tired, Gustav wont be lucky against Lopez who is the better clay player next week. So the whole just might happen? Who is the last Argentines to win French Open by the way? Is t Sabatini?

His worst surface IS clay. Just look at his overall results. True, he's done very well on his wort surface... but it is just that - his worst surface.

Why that is, I can't tell you It just is

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

He grew up playing on a hardcourt, yes he can play on clay one of his titles is on clay, but to do well in the South American it would help to have an ability to play on clay.

It's possible, but highly unlikely, IMO.

Stan the Man.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi

Henman.
Safin.
Ferrero.
Hewitt.
Djokovic.
Gasquet.

Nabandian in and interview said that he prefers faster surfaces - he feels more comfortable. It was this year in Montecarlo after his injury (ankle). It was the first time I heard him saying that.

That's why he did so well at the end of last year. Plus he grew up playing on hard courts.
