DC WG Playoff: Who will win the Czech Republic vs. Switzerland?

This tie will be held indoors on a fast surface and the teams are quite evenly matched and if a couple of players one each on both sides played in their 1st round ties, then they wouldn't be in the position of fighting for World Group status.

The Swiss will have Federer, Wawrinka, Allegro and it could be anyone for the 4th position as they will be head cheerleader or getting the drinks.

The Czechs will have Berdych, Stepanek, Dlouhy and Damm in their team more than likely.

This tie is actually more interesting that the WG semi finals in a lot of ways and the doubles will be key.

Berdych vs Wawrinka
Stepanek vs Federer

If it goes to a live 5th match I think Wawrinka will win it as Stepanek has crumbled in this format a few times before.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I think Swiss will go at least 3-2! I'm hoping for two Federer single wins, and I am also optimistic about a doubles win by Suisse, Dlouhy and Damm not withstanding!! HOPPPPPPPPPPP

don't know too much about the Czech doubles players... but I'll give a Hail Mary vote for the Swiss

Damm and Stepanek were a very good team, though some would say Dlouhy/Vizner should have been picked.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: DC WG Playoff: Who will win the Czech Republic vs. Switzerland?

It will be the first match on hardcourt between Roger and Tomas since their 2004 meeting on hard in Athens.
Good for the Czech team that Stepanek is making a DC comeback, but it should also be a promising sign for the Swiss team that Stan had such a good run at the US Open. Lets hope that he can at least take one point for the team.

I think we can look forward to an excellent encounter between this two teams and although the Czechs are playing at home the Swiss team should be favourite with Roger and an in-form Wawrinka.

Well considering they just reached the US Open final you'd think Dlouhy/Vizner should be the doubles team.

Anyway the Swiss will probably win. Stan the man can kill the tie in the first match.

Should be good matches - would it be shown anywhere? These are GS material matches.

Re: DC WG Playoff: Who will win the Czech Republic vs. Switzerland?

I think it will depend on the Berdych/Wawrinka match.

If Berdych wins than I look for Sexy Stepanek to seal the deal in the 5th tie with a god like preformance.

Stan is the key, he must win a single to help Swiss to win

Id love to see the Czechs win so that next year Roger plays DC to help Switzerland rejoin the world group.

Stepanek ain't losing to Wawrinka, doesn't matter the format. So isn't Berdych.

Doubles will be key.

Re: DC WG Playoff: Who will win the Czech Republic vs. Switzerland?

In a way I want the Swiss to lose, but more than likely Superman Federer will get them home.

I want the Czechs to win, but they won't. It's a shame that a team with Berdych and Stepanek and a good doubles team will probably be out of the world group next year.

Re: DC WG Playoff: Who will win the Czech Republic vs. Switzerland?

I would like to see the Czechs remain in the World Group, but then again the Swiss team do have Stan the man who I like.
I would make Switzerland the favourites to win this tie.
