The Chart

Federer: 1 slam win a year, then 2 years of 2 slam wins a year then another 2 years of 3 slam wins a year, will 2008 start the 2 4 slams a year?

Re: The Chart

Nice chart. Show how Roger has won his slams during a much shorter time span. However, Pete's longevity was impressive, as is his record for most weeks at #1. Roger needs two more years at #1 to beat that record.

Why is longevity considered better than consecutive weeks at #1? I think they are on par. After breaking Steffi's record, he now has the record for consecutive weeks at #1, man or woman. That is equally impressive.

I think you mean # of years ending as at #1?

Re: The Chart

No way Fed gets 7 consecutive YE #1, 6 YEC. Those are unbreakable.

I do share this consentient though. It will be very hard for Fed to get even six YE number ones. I think he'll get five.

Sampras had 10 Slams, not 11, at age 26 after the 1997 US Open.

You've got one thing wrong there. Roger had 3 years with 3 slams and only one year with 2 slams. It would certainly be a nice surprise if Roger did win 4 slams in 2008. However, I'd be happy even if he only wins 3 again.

2003 1 slam
2004 3 slams
2005 2 slams
2006 3 slams
2007 3 slams

Roger Forever !

He did it by age, not by year.

No, I meant total weeks at #1. I don't think that it really matters too much who's number one at the end of the year. That's just a random time of the year to do the numbers - might as well have chosen august 16th to do those numbers and it would turn out differently. For instance, on the WTA tour Hingis have spend far more weeks at #1 than Davenport, but Davenport have ended the year as #1 more times than Hingis. Total weeks at #1 is the best measure of dominance here.

What is this deal with calling me RFK? That retard is nowhere in my league of 'tardism.
