If Djokovic comes into the same situation in the Australian Open....

....will he crumble on the important points, or win? In other words, is his issue with Federer (in which case he has no chance) or with being in a slam final?

Re: If Djokovic comes into the same situation in the Australian Open....

Its neither
He beat Rogers before the US Open on a pretty high level match, which has to say something. And its his FIRST Grand Slam final, and he is 20 years old, thats gotta count for some of the blame.
He will be fine down the road. I don't think all future number one's (all be it a long way down the road if Federer has anything to say about it) won their first GrandSlam final they were in

Neither and another knee jerk reaction thread among many.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

No way. Novak seems to be to level headed and has good perspective. Im sure he will brush this loss off. He is clearly the #3 in terms of tennis level. Now its whether he can capitalize on the big stage. I wouldnt be surprised to see joker take this match in australia

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

Djokovic = Chokovic

If he finds his lost balls he might have a chance.

The ATP deserves a better class of player, and I'm gonna give it to 'em - Djoker

if he learns the way he's been learning, it won't get this close next time.

Re: If Djokovic comes into the same situation in the Australian Open....

Biggest concern for Djokovic is what happened at the end of the third set.

Fed started feeding his crazy slice shots (near the net) and Djokovic was hopeless on most of them. He netted so many of them.

Djokovic has to learn to deal with this shot (which he'll probably only face from Fed). Djok doesn't have the luxury of being a lefty like Nadal, who can rip these shots back using heavy topspin.

fed made him hit the ball... but if walking into that match someone told him you'd get 5 break chances in the 1st set, and 2 in the 2nd, you'd be pretty pleased. he really had federer on the ropes, but like the greats (ali, woods, jordan) he showed why he is the best, under any condition, under any situation, at any time.

Re: If Djokovic comes into the same situation in the Australian Open....

Bottom line, Nole will win 3/4 slams in 2009. It's just a question if Fed can clean up in 2008 before Nole shuts the door.

Re: If Djokovic comes into the same situation in the Australian Open....

Djokovic's problem was a combination of both. Beating Federer in a slam final was too much for him to handle at this point in time. Come next year, he should be up for the challenge.

And Nole not handling those slices was more mental than anything.
