Most of his losses after the first round in Grand Slams are expected. Volandri is a better claycourter than him, so it's normal to watch him lose against the Italian in Roland Garros. Same goes for Paul-Henri Mathieu in Wimbledon.
Now looking at his draw in here, if he doesn't face Nadal, he may win the whole quarter, because there isn't any player there that he can't beat. The hardest one would be Ferrer and I doubt he can beat Nalbandian next sunday.
