Kiwi def. Vince 6:2, 7:6(1), 6:3

Rock solid from the base line, while Spadeas groundstrokes were quite erratic.
Some bad blood between both, when Spadea complained about Kiefer taking too much time.

Kiefer with a minichoke when he has serving for the 2nd set. 3 dfs and a fh UE which led to the rebreak for Spadea.

Some of Spadea's attempted aggressive returns went so far out it was ridiculous.

Kiefer is a good top 20 player and he tends to be pretty good over five sets so he poses a challenge to higher ranked players in his draw if he hits form.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

The result I was waiting for. Nice job Kiwi, sending the dreaded Vindizzle back to Florida. Good for you.

Where is Kelli Therese?
I think Kiwi wanted to play TB in the 2nd set to build up self-confidence in under pressure situations. His service game at *5:4 was a joke

Spadea's complaining about calls and other things was ridiculous. As if he was cheated. I wonder why Kiwi was so friendly again.

Best match of Kiefer since his comeback. Now you can say that the opponent on the paper didn't look that difficult at all. Maybe that is right, but Spadea was not a good match-up for him in the past, and Kiefer often struggles with these types of opponents more than with higher ranked players. I was surprised that Spadea ran into Kiefer's open knife so many times at the net, Kiefer's passing shots were great Very good footwork also, serve was working most times (except the double faults in this game).

Spadea complained a lot throughout the match it seemed. At one point Spadea yelled a c'mon after a few UEs and not much later Kiefer focused him a few times after he won some points. That was funny

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
