Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

I was worried about Tommy after he lost the first set.

Darcis is a taller version of Ollie Rochus.

Good win by Haas.

Re: Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

Not a shameful performance by Steve. He did well in his first grand slam match to take a set off a top ten player and keep up with him in the other sets.

Hope he goes forward in his career and further up the rankings.

Re: Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

Indeed, I was impressed with Darcis. His serve is very strong for his height, he has a very fluid game one-handed both sides and moves fast. I think he plays a little like Wawrinka, Youzhny and the likes. Problem is, his blood boiled every instant.

First time in about seven matches that I have seen Steve play very good tennis

And yes, I missed his main draw matches in Amersfoort But in qualies he was crap.

Re: Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

Darcis has played better than ranking #120, Tommy won ugly match which was most because he has bigger experenced and Darcis gives some errors to Haas in some moments. The longer the match was, the more it was to Tommy's side.
glad Haas winning it, was difficult situation because of his shoulder problems before US Open, did not have good timing in his shots at the start

Albert Costa forever +++ Tommy Haas +++ Ivo Karlovic +++ Peter Luczak

Re: Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

Tommy looked really good, especially at the end, and held it together well out there, because Darcis was by no means playing badly - he pushed Tommy hard right the way along.

Fairly serve-dominant match for some reason, both tended to hold pretty easily and struggled to get into the return games.

Steve got a rough draw and deserved better than a R1 loss, playing as he did.

This was only the 3rd time I've seen Darcis play and I'm really liking his game. This will have been a good experience for him and hopefully he continues to progress

Re: Haas def. Darcis 6-7 7-5 6-3 6-4

Good fight from Steve! If he plays on like this it looks like he'll be in the main draw of the Australian Open

Xavier Malisse & Kristof Vliegen & Olivier Rochus

Steve Darcis - Dick Norman - Christophe Rochus

Desein - Bemelmans - Masson - Mertens - Authom - Wauters

Steve
I saw the first 2 sets and he was doing very well. Sorry he didn't get an easier draw.

Congrats to Haas!
