Unhappy OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION - Henman will RETIRE after the DC GBR v CRO tie, next month

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/

Hopefully he can win a couple of matches before he leaves.

Best of luck with your retirement, Tim, and thanks so much for what you have put into British tennis. A career to be very proud of.

Henman has played many great matches and is one of the last true exponents of serve and volley tennis at least for the time being... *pauses and muses*

I still cheer for Croatia overall but I would like to see Tim to win one match. In 01 at his Wimbly match I cheered for Goran but I felt sorry about his loss. And I really thought he would have beaten Coria and would have won RG 04.Sadly it didn't happen.
I've never expected that he will leave so soon, surely he will be missed. But the good side is he doesn't have to face huge pressure and he has more time to take care of his family.

Stan The Paris Man

Cheer for: Wawrinka Murray Ljubicic Gonzalez Mahut Nishikori Soderling Tipsarevic Mathieu Monfils Muller Tsonga Berdych Acasuso O.Rochus Kiefer...

Expected really.

Shame that Tim never managed to win Wimbledon. But he had a good career, reached grand slam semi finals, represented GBR in Davis Cup and won the Paris Masters (although its the easiest one to win).

Expected and correct decision, but still a sad one. I think I just missed the period when he played his best tennis; late 90's/early 00's.

Joachim Johansson / Ivo Karlovic / Andy Roddick / Ernests Gulbis / John Isner / Chris Guccione / Feliciano Lopez / Jo-Wilfried Tsonga / Ivan Ljubicic / Mario Ancic / Michael Llodra / Gilles Muller / Xavier Malisse / Max Mirnyi / Nicolas Mahut / Robin Söderling / Frank Dancevic / Olivier Rochus / Robert Kendrick

Re: OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION - Henman will RETIRE after the DC GBR v CRO tie, next month

Tim enjoyed a good career. 6 grand slam semis, 4 more quarter-finals, reaching no. 4 in the world rankings, winning a masters series title (coming through a tough draw) as well as claiming 10 other titles, plus earning an olympic silver medal represents a very good career. Out of all the men that have ever become professional tennis players, a very large percentage of people from that group would trade career accomplishments with him.

Good luck in your retirement Tim He may not ever have won Wimbledon, but he did consistently well there over years, in the face of the most amazing media pressure. I wish him all the best with his wife and family in his new life beyond tennis.
