lol

so far reports do not seem to suggest that players feel threatened to take money, so i don't think the fear factor is there yet... just the greed factor.

or maybe there are enough players who are willing to take money, so that the match-fixing bad guys do not need to use force

As for the room number thing - if someone from the criminal fratenity wants a room number - what Receptionist or bell-boy is going to be brave enough to say "no"? Sad but true.

That'S what I was on about. If they can call you, means the bellboy had a reason to give their number to them.

The fear factor would maybe explain Russian players getting involved but hardly all the Argentines.

GWH wrote earlier in this thread that match fixing was match fixing regardless of nationality. True, but there is no doubt some nationalities are more prone than others.

All the Argentines involved that's a new one. There are some involved, not all of them, there are different circumstances with them than the Russians.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Hi Guys,

The cream of the Cream is in this thread...
http://forum.sbrforum.com/players-ta...ghlight=5DIMES

Thats why except "two serious bookies" in the world (5dimes and fonbet and i still doubt) you cant bet on singles on that kind of tournaments.

Re: Davydenko match probed for match fixing + players comment on being approached

Starace is very upset because of an article in "Le Journal du Dimanche" on Sunday. The article quoted an ATP report and named a few Italian players who have a betting account. Starace is very angry because they picked a pic of him for that article.
So he talked about it in Metz, said it's true he has this account and likes betting on football (never more than 50-60 euros), but he never bets on tennis and doesn't see the problem. His agent is now requiring the newspaper to apologize.

Edit: Here's the JDD article: http://www.lejdd.fr/cmc/sport/200739...ur-_59990.html

Re: Davydenko match probed for match fixing + players comment on being approached

Muzza adds his comments.......

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/7035003.stm

Quote:
Andy Murray has told BBC Sport that he believes some tennis matches are being fixed in ATP tournaments - and he says all the players are aware of it.

He told BBC 5live: "It is pretty disappointing for all the players, but everyone knows that it goes on.

"It's difficult to prove if someone has tanked a match or not tried.

"They can try their best until the last couple of games in each set and then make some mistakes, hit a couple of double faults and that is it."

In an investigation for 5live Sport, leading betting companies have expressed concern about the results of several games.

And Murray believes the chance to make extra money is too much for some players to turn down.

He added: "There are some guys who have to come to tournaments every single week and out of their first-round-loser's cheque - about 2,500 euros - they have to pay for their air fares.

"A career lasts probably only 10 or 12 years and you have to make all your money while you're still playing. But it's not really acceptable."

Last month Tim Henman told BBC One's Inside Sport programme he has heard of players being asked to influence the outcome of matches.

"I personally have never experienced it but, listening to the players talking, it seems it goes on," said the former British number one.

In August, online betting exchange Betfair voided the market on Nikolay Davydenko's match with Martin Vassallo at the Poland Open because of concerns over unusual betting activity.

The ATP Tour launched its own probe as a result.

How the hell do you work that out?

They would make more money than ever if this is the case lol.
They take a fee for every bit of money exchanged, so if more money than ever was exchanged they would increase there amount?

Where is the Murray on Match-Fixing Thread?

I assume it's being discussed already, but I can't find it, so I'll paste ESPN.com link here:
