Does Anybody Give Ferrero A Chance Tomorrow?

In light of his play the last few games before the rain came, has he got a chance? We know he upped his game during his 3rd round match against Blake and hasn't looked back. He's been able to serve big and fly lightly on the grass. Could he possibly upset Roger? I feel he might steal a set. What say you?

I think if he focuses in his serve, and arrange a high percentage of first serves/aces he definetely will have any opportunity of winning a set and also moving Federer with is forehand and searching angles with his backhand preparing the point.
Because I keep think that Federer is "beatable". I didn't see him today very "fine".

He needs to hop on Roger before Roger can knock off the rust. If Roger can come out and win the first set, the road's probably too steep, but if Juanqui can grab something like a set and a break or something while Roger is still in "How do you even hit one of these things?" mode, he can make Roger struggle.

I definitely saw something special from 3-5 on. I didn't think JCF had it in him when playing Roger on grass. And you could tell Roger didn't expect it either. The real question is whether he can keep it up for the duration of the match. I fear the rain delay might have broken the momentum, but it's still fairly early in the match though. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Ferrero played great tennis in those ten games. However, Federer is a rock when rain delays occur. He'll serve two big aces when he comes out, one will probably be second serve, break Ferrero in his "how play tennis" stage, then it'll be cake from there.

Sampras, Agassi, Nalbandian, Santoro, Verdasco.

To be honest, though, this is better for Federer than it seems, though. It's nice for him to get any practice at all before restarting the match seriously tomorrow.

The best scenario would be for him to break off the bat, then serve for the 1st set. Even so, Roger has lots of time in a best of 5 match to catch up soon. I'm just hoping for a very good match and those last few games before the rain delay gave me hope.

You're probably right, but the mosquito had looked really good here. He seems more at home on grass than on clay.

I think Federer underestimated Ferrero today. JCF is playing a lot better than he did at Monte Carlo or Hamburg. If play had continued today I think he would have won that first set and who knows what could have happened after that. If Federer holds and then breaks or wins the tie-break, it will be a lot harder for Ferrero to get in the match. I think he has a chance though as long as he keeps hitting his forehand like that.

Don't state the obvious. I wanna hear the impossible argument. LOL Of course he's going to adjust and probably swat the mosquito away. But what if?

That's what I think, too. He needs to do a Soderling "Come out fresher and win this first game" thing, and if he can take the set at 7-5, I think it's slightly worrisome, but until he get some sort of break or wins a tiebreak in the second, it wouldn't be horribly surprising to see Roger win in 4 anyway.

Re: Does Anybody Give Ferrero A Chance Tomorrow?

Juanqui looked exceptionally good today (well, all during the tournament - he's GREAT on the Green Stuff!), while the Fed, after a blazing start, seemed to have gone in Rusty Mode again - spraying around UEs like confetti. I think the first set will be crucial: if Fed regains his form, he'll blast JCF off court, but if not - anything can happen.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Fed were to lose a set to JCF. In fact that's what I predicted.

That's it right there. The rain delay is going to hurt JCF b/c Roger by now knows what to expect and has already figured out how to adjust. Will the mosquito find another gear as well? Or is he going to stick with big serve, big forehand?

Federer will win the first 2 points with unreturnable serves and then break Ferrero. Clear as water.
