Name one thing which you dislike about tennis

I dunno if thread has been done before. The search tool is so dodgy so I couldn't tell.

Anyway, I dislike the fact that you can't cheer during the point.

Re: Name one thing which you dislike about tennis.

I dislike the fact that one player can have more strengths than the other, but the other can still win because they have a better serve.

Combined Men's & Women's tournaments. It's tolerable at the slams.

This was exactly the reason why I went off men's tennis in the 90's and started following WTA tennis instead. Back then the serve became way too important. However, this has changed radically during the the current decade. Racket technology and slower surfaces has limited the importance of the serve. On clay and on hardcourt, the serve is no longer that dominant. Therefore I ditched WTA tennis and started following the ATP tour again a few years ago.

Re: Name one thing which you dislike about tennis

TV Media treating the watching fans like they are idiots with their patronising comments thinking we are all thick and do not have a clue who we are watching - and the fact they force us to watch the Usual Suspects ALL the time - not letting the other 100 ATP players have any airtime on TV to allow them to become popular in the TV viewing eyes too.

TV Media - MORE variety please... if you need to find out and learn who you need to show... read MTF for some ideas... and stop patronising us...

Also hate the way that when the different player finally appears on TV that has been doing extremely well in Challengers, they diss Challengers Tournaments as if they have no importance at all..

Re: Name one thing which you dislike about tennis

Rain delays are just awful.

Lazy umpires and linespersons who wait for a player to challenge them in order to correct their mistake and get the deserved point.

(Lets are actually OK. If the ball fell closely behind the net after the cord, the receiving player would be in an undeservedly inferior position if (s)he were to lose the point. And instead of the aces, players would practice net-cording, which would be the death of tennis as we know it.)

Re: Name one thing which you dislike about tennis

Too many things and most have been covered so far.

Corporate fuckwits who don't give a damn about the sport, but are there for their free wine and lobster and they get to see the matches, while most of the true fans don't. Yes, I understand it's a part of the sponsorship deal, but it's too much.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
