By joining forums, people need to agree on rules that haven't been thought only for the sake of administrators/moderators having Pre-Menstruation-Stress or manboob pains, but also for making this place convenient for users. When there are sticky posts containing rules, it is mandatory to read them.
On this forum there are over 20.000 users (let us believe not duplicate accounts
) and if there were no rules respected, it would be even a bigger mess than it is now. Things like starting threads "Jankovic is now whipping the court with Henin" in General Messages on MensTennisForums is messy, because it's not a forum for women's tennis discussion (well, it can be discussed in some fan forums or non tennis, where rules are less strict).
Same for starting a thread about discussing a match in progress, before actually going through forums and figuring there is a whole part of the board only or the Rome TMS and there is a thread "Friday Order of Play" - this is where posts about matches in progress are being made.
Once again, you can get acknowledged about it from reading the forum rules and each forum section rules, or just the good idea is to read the board before starting to post.
Starting similar types of threads in non tennis is also not seen nicely as threads like this already exist, just to use "search" button which is on the forum toolbar.
