Nadal visits the Hospital in Rome

According to the newspaper "El Pais": http://www.elpais.com/articulo/depor...lpepudep_5/Tes

He was feeling dizzy yesterday before Bracciali match and even went to the hopsital, and today he was not feeling good enough so he went to the hospital again to try to find what's the problem.

His desire is to play this afternoon against Youzhny.

Re: Nadal visits the Hospital in Rome

If that's true, Youzhny has today the best chance that any player had to beat Nadal this year on clay.

Re: Nadal visits the Hospital in Rome

This is not how I want Nadal to lose (and end his streak), and definitly not to Youzhny, not like that.

I'm pretty sure Roger would be unhappy with it either, if Rafa is coming down with something.

I hope its nothing serious and Rafa has his peace of mind before the match begins.

Nadal's streak in jeopardy due to dizzy spell

ROME: Rafael Nadal went to a hospital for a checkup following a dizzy spell Thursday and may miss a chance to extend his 73-match clay-court winning streak.

Nadal was scheduled to play 15th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny in the third round of the Rome Masters later Thursday.

"This morning he went to hospital for more exams," Nadal's spokesman, Benito Barbadillo, told The Associated Press. "His intention is still to play. We'll see what happens. There were two things bothering him. Yesterday they didn't know what one of them was."

Barbadillo said he had no further information as to what exactly was bothering Nadal.

Nadal said he felt dizzy after his second-round win over Daniele Bracciali on Wednesday.

"Before the match I went to see the doctor and he said it was nothing," Nadal said. "Now I'm going back."

Nadal is aiming to become the first player to win this French Open warmup three consecutive times. Youzhny beat Nadal in their last two meetings — both on hard courts.

That's nasty.

Isn't that something similar to what Volandri had in Valencia? I was watching his match with Almagro and he looked really unsettled.

I've had one and it takes months to recover if it is a really big infection!

Re: Nadal visits the Hospital in Rome

It's better for him to withdraw than risk ending his winning streak due to an illness.

Re: Nadal visits the Hospital in Rome

This is bad - I wanted to see a great Youzhny vs Nadal and a possible Djokovic/Nadal match.
Well at least it's not an injury, which means he should be fit for RG. Hope it's nothing serious.

I think Volandri just had diahrrea that day. From what I know a colon infection also provokes that but it´s more serious issue to heal

Unfortunately, wouldn't a withdrawal be counted as a break in the chain? On an unofficial note, his streak is unbroken, but officially a withdrawal would break it imo
