The 6 MP was the charm, apparently.

Good luck in the match against Berdych- time to turn the H2H around.

Re: Rafa wins 6-2, 6-3; bring on Berdych

Credit to Kohlschreiber - he played a fairly intelligent match and kept making Nadal come up with the goods out there. Unfortunately for him, Nadal did come up with the goods each time. But I think Philip was hurt by a little bit of inconsistency - a few poor points in a row here and there, and there went his serve. He couldn't bring it point after point after point - but when he did bring it, he made Rafa work for the win. Kohlschreiber showed some great touches at the net and good use of his backhand when attacking the second serve, but his forehand let him down at times and was guilty sometimes of being a bit predictable with his passes.

As for Rafa...well it's my opinion he's playing better on clay this year than he was doing last year. I'm dubious about the improvements to his game on hard a little bit, but they do seem to have helped him on a surface he least needed help on - clay.

Whereas last season I went in with optimism about Federer's chances, this season I have low expectations of Federer's ability to defeat Nadal on this surface. I really will believe it when I see it, now.

Good job, although it should have been 6:2 6:2.

Good luck against Tomas.

Expected win, but at least an enjoyable match, contrary to yesterday's, which was a lot more a one-way drive.

Phillip was a lot tougher than I expected, he really tried to fight. And showed some awesome shots at the net! I wonder what this bloke will be capable of on grass...

So, good match, kudos to both gentlemen for the provided entertainment!

Well, Raf... so now it's Bird-time again tomorrow.
What a fantastic tournament this is turning out to be for me... all four of my fav players in the semi's!

Props to Philipp - he played quite well and hang in tough, saving five MPs.

As for Rafa, the really hard work starts now.

Some great net play by Kohl, but as usual he lacked the consistency to trouble a player of Nadal's caliber. I won't make any bold predictions about tomorrow's match except to say that Berdych will be the first real test for Nadal on clay this season, and I know Bastad was 2 years ago, but a lot has changed since then so if Nadal wants it, he better come prepared.

In a way, this match is in Berdych's hands... If he keeps the ball in court, moves his feet and serves well I don't think Rafa can counter punch his way into the final. We'll see though

philip played a sterling match, especially towards the end, when he dominated the net and hit some marvellous volleys.

is it me or has nadal substantially flattened out all of his shots?

Re: Rafa wins 6-2, 6-3; bring on Berdych

Philip played very good match credit to him , but it wasn't anywhere near to put Rafa in bad position, Nadal is not even tiring himself he is winning fast with ease and with total confidence
