Is Gasquet close to his big breakthrought?

I dont know if it is just me who has that feeling. But for the 1st time Gasquet seems to be mentaly prepared for the big matches. He wins close matches and plays good in big points. He seems to use all his weapons in a more tactical way and no more randomly hit amazing points which is followed by poorly constructed points.

I think this summer will be a test for Gasquet and he will be the outsider to win RG besides the 2 giants. I think he has the game to beat both Nadal and Federer on a very good day but I dont know if he is mentaly prepared to do it.

Anyway a semifinal in RG would surely be enought to give him so confidence and he may follow it up with an even better result in wimbledon, clay and grass are his best surfaces and last year he had bad luck with beeing out of form on clay while facing Federer in early rounds in Halle and Wimbledon.

I think after wimbledon GAsquet will have a good chance of entering the top 5, probably passing both Djokovic and Murray. Gasquet is much better than both on grass and better on clay aswell.

Gasquet will never be a great champion. One day he will be in Top 10, but nothing more than that.

He doesnt have any points to defend all clay season and then on grass he has only nottingham to defend. I think he could even be top 10 already before RG.

You talk like he is going to win RG. I would be surprised if he wins his 4rd round match.

Wasn't his breakthrough supposed to be when he beat Roger?

No, that was as much a breakthrought as when Federer defeated Sampras in wimbledon. His big breakthrought is still to come.

Enough with those type of threads FFS!

BTW, he's losing to Ferrero right now despite playing well partly because of his stupid choice to play doubles yesterday after 3 marathon matches...

I think he is closer to coming out of the closet than he is to breaking through...
