Will Nadal Defend MC, Rome and RG for the 2nd straight year?

U think he can win MC, Rome, and RG for the 3rd straight year? His chances look strong now........

What about Barcelona?

The only possible problem I see for Nadal is possible burnout before RG. He isn't coming into the clay season with several months of rest like last year.

Hmm... because of emotional reasons it's not likely he'll skip Barca. That means a burnout is possible, as we've seen last year. He's won RG and he wasn't under a serious threat there, but he struggled sometimes and the competition is stronger this year IMO

Yeah, good point about the burnout issue. Anyway, i didn´t put Barcelona in that list because i wanted to stick with what really matters: AMS and Grand Slams.

Nadal from Spain, no? I think Barcelona matters more to Nadal than several AMS tournaments on the tour.

He'll walk it. People were saying the same things last year about him burning out but he demolished all opposition on the dirt. His only competition last year was Rogi, but this year Roger's not been on top form since maybe the Australian Open and he's never beaten Nadal on clay. Who's going to challenge him ? Djokovic and Murray have yet to prove themselves on this surface. None of the Spanish and South American players can beat him. Safin and Hewitt are lost causes. Youzhny and Gonzo are struggling. In fact the entire top 10 (aside from Nole) has been struggling. The usual roasters as well. Can't see anyone interrupting this guy's clay record this year. Perhaps next year Coria will come back with an improved serve and Canas' hunger and muscles

Ferrero ? You kidding right ? Gasquet doesn't have the stamina to go toe to toe with Nadal especially over 5 sets which is what he would need to beat Nadal @ RG.

yeah, and Nadal was on top form for sure

the competition is stronger. it's still very difficult to defeat Nadal, but don't say it's impossible

Re: Will Nadal Defend MC, Rome and RG for the 2nd straight year?

The way he is playing right now is awesome, if he keeps it up he will do that.
Making TMS finals and Barcelona final best of 3 sets laso helps a lot. so far he isn't tired at all at Monte Carlo , also burnout is not a real possibility he can skip Hamburg if he wins Rome to recharge before French Open last year he made it playing more sets finals including that marathon in Rome and still look strong in Paris he had some hard matches (especially against Mathieu) but was never in postion to losing at RG , in fact he wasn't in danger of losing match at RG since his first victory.

Is comeptition stronger this year ?? I don't think so
1.Almagra hasn't imporved so much
2.Federer is in bad form he can peak but right now he is not Federer from year ago on clay courts
3. Nalbandian
4.Safin
5. Davydenko totally off form
6. Robredo has no weapons to win a set with him
7. Canas plays the same game but Rafa is doing it many times better

OK Djokoivc can be hard but I still like Rafa chances on clay against Djoko espeically in best of 5 match
Berdych could be threat but maybe in Rome where courts play faster , no way on RG I don't see Berdych winning on clay with Nadal in best of 5 match

ANDY RODDICK

Streaks invariably come to an end at some point...sometimes when, and to whom, you're least expecting...

I think he is a due loss over the next 2 months...could even be Federer / Berdych / Soderling this week. After all, the matches are best-of-3 sets which gives them more of a shot at him imo.
