A DC title is great and all, but when it comes to a career, you want something that shows you've made progress on the tour.

What do you think?

The Davis Cup is more meaningful than any tournament apart from the 4 grand slams and the Masters Cup in my opinion.

You can make a lot of money playing Davis Cup.
and if you are on the Davis Cup team and won, that means you already are SOMEBODY and have made something of your career.

Re: Is a Futures Title more important and meaningful than a Davis Cup title?

I won my local Pennant tournament last year. I think that is more meaningful than a grand slam because it means I showed up to my matches and bagelled some very talented 14 year olds. The day I learned the forehand grip was also more important than Davis Cup because my forehand progressed and this could potentially make me rich in the future.

Re: Is a Futures Title more important and meaningful than a Davis Cup title?

Absolutely. There is no "prize money" in Davis Cup (although players get a "wage"...but we don't count that in this debate ) whereas for winning a futures title you get about $250.

Therefore, simply maths: $250 > $0 = Futures is more important.

Plus, winning a futures title is an individual achievement, whereas winning a DC title will invariably involve help from at least 1 other player.

You spend $500 on hotel, food and bus-transportation at a Futures.
Your country spends $5000 on your food, hotel and limo in a Davis Cup.

Therefore net earnings are $-250 in a Futures and $0 in a Davis Cup. Simple maths ==> $0 > $-250.

Game over. DC wins.

No, i state this becuase if u win a title (of course the Grand Slams are huge) u will be remmebered, for what u did. Not for a group effort from 1 country

winning the davis cup is soo much more important. playing a lowly futures event against other wannabes and winning like $100 is a good a achievement, but the only people who know you won it and you and the people you beat. the davis cup is global
