Re: 2013 World Group play-offs

Seeding is made in accordance with the most recent Davis Cup Nations ranking. If you look at current ranking on http://www.daviscup.com/en/rankings/...-rankings.aspx you will see the World Group first round losing nations have higher ranking than any of nations of Zone Group I. So they will be seeded

Re: 2013 World Group play-offs

Having looked at the line-ups, the teams that worry me as a GB fan are the teams that are good at doubles, Spain, Israel, Austria.

My figuring is Andy Murray will win both his rubbers and then we'd need Fleming/Marray to win the doubles, which they could against the majority of teams.

However I can't see Ward/Evans taking a single point against any of these teams

So it's basically 2-2 from the singles with the doubles as the clinching point

The only other thing that would worry me is an away tie in Spain in Rafa plays, they would put it on clay and Murray might lose the Sunday singles to Nadal.

Switzerland worry me if Federer plays, as he'd only need to win one of either Murrray v Federer or the doubles rubber.

Germany, Croatia, Belgium should all be easy wins for team GB.

Brazil worries me as the doubles would be 50/50

Doubles: 140
Doubles titles:
Itajai CH 2014 w/Redkop
ATP Delray Beach 2015 w/Samib_187

Sorry, I was wrong. The things have stood so YESTERDAY. TODAY (in accordance with fresh ranking) the seeded nations are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Japan, Spain and Switzerland. So, in comparison with yeaterday ranking, Brazil and Israel are dropped, Australia and Japan are taken their places

Re: 2013 World Group play-offs

My expectations for Australia.....

Brazil - need to play off clay. If it's off clay I'd say Tomic and probably Hewitt beat Bellucci, but they don't win the doubles. If it's at home we'll be fine.
Columbia - should be fine.
Ecuador - easy win.
Great Britain - only one where we aren't favourites. Murray + doubles will beat us.
Israel - easy win although they do lift for DC...
Netherlands - easy win at home, should be fine away from home though not a done deal.
Poland - tricky one, probably should be OK at home but will be hard to beat Janowicz + Frystenberg/Matsowczi in Poland.
Ukraine - easy win given Dolgopolov doesn't play DC.

So underdogs against Britain, 50/50-ish against Poland, surface depending against Brazil, favourites against the others.

Knowing our lucky we'll face the Brits.

Dolgo played against Sweden this past weekend. Remains to be seen if he will play the playoffs however.

But yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up this time around like the previous 6 years. Hopefully for some reason that will stop us drawing a Murray led team GB...

You have old info Dolgo changed all federation leaders in January (that was his condition to play for national team in DC). He played last two ties and announced recently that his aim is World Group. So he intends to play in play-off

Didn't know that. Still, they don't seem to have a good doubles team so we should still beat them.
