A letter to Baldy
Dear Mr. Baldy
I don't think you know me, which is fine considering we never met. I have been following your career for a long time, ups and downs included. I too remember that emotional win in RG against Medvedev and the great games against Pete and in the AO and you becoming the oldest ever #1.
Those were good days, but they now seem long gone. The past 6 months you seem to have lost your motivation and love for the game. This is very understandble, especially coming from someone who also has recently became a proud father. Family comes before everything and I presume that spending more time with your wife and kid are much more important to you than checking out Igor Andreev's career.
So isn't it time to call it a day? Or are you looking to do a "one final Pete move" in Wimbledon this year? I know, I know, it's not fair to reach any far-fetched conclusions based on the past 217 games that you lost (when was the last time you won a game? March was it?). Maybe it is just another one of any player's slumps. But in this day and age this could be quite a long slump, don't you think?
Still AA, I want you to know that although I never was the greatest fan of you ever, I always admired your spirit and love for the game. But if all this has now dissapeared... well you know what I mean.
Another aging father
