Q. As the older player, you don't feel like it's your role to go up to the younger players and talk to them first?

JEFF TARANGO: To say what? "Welcome to the locker room. Don't bend over for the soap."

Re: Tuesday Order Of Play

I am a bit surprised Federer didn't make Chatrier, but after the way Ferrero was treated by the schedulers at RG and the US Open last year it's appropriate that he makes the main court as defending champion. I don't care if Federer's on court 17 to be honest, I just hope he can WIN. Take the first set and you'll improve your performance from the last couple of years, is that OK?

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Tuesday Order Of Play

Both Ferrero and Federer deserve Chartier for different reasons.

Good thing this is France and not America or the tournament would be excoriated for putting Federer on another court in favor of a Frenchman.

They have their reasons, which we can never figure out...

But I agree w you Sjengst, I only want Rogi to win his first rd match, esp now that Pandy won his [T Martin was being too "grannyish" out there today... hmmm... maybe both HE and AA s contemplate retirement altho I reckon AA won't until he's well out of the top 10].

So ALLEZ, ROGI!!

ALLEZ, JUANQUI!!!

ALLEZ, MARATSKI!!

ALLEZ, ALBERT!!

It was so satisfying to see AA falter...

Hopp Rogi! Go Gonzo! Allez Gasquet!
