Andre at RG

How far can Andre go at RG this year?

He is skipping much of the clay court season, so he won't be especially match tough and used to the clay.

On the other hand, I imagine his ball-striking ability will still be great, since that never seems to go away...

He has made the quarterfinals the last two years, losing to two of the greatest clay court players, Ferrero and Coria. Can he get this far again?

There seems to be a general consensus that he can't win RG at this point in his career. I think there is a lot of evidence to support this. But with Andre I won't rule anything out entirely...

Re: Andre at RG

There was a blurb in tennis-x that said that the last time Andre played the week before RG was.... 1999. He played Dusseldorf and retired in his first round and then of course we all know what happened after that. I suppose it was their way of mediating all the other mean stuff they said about him in their column today lmfao

I don't think Andre can/will win, but he should be able to get his 800th win. Hopefully that milestone won't be some sort of monkey for him, let's just get the win and move on

It is disgusting, but it's a curse from an angry guy. I'm not reading too much into his specific word choices...

Andre's a man of contradictions, that's for sure. So much to admire, but also plenty to dislike.

LOL

Alfonso, please, don't be such a wimp! I say this f-word (and several comparable ones in German language) a hundred times a day

(I don't understand what's the big deal there, he was just angry and uspet about himself and I'm sure he didn't mean it as a "demand" to his opponent )

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Well, you know how it is - Specific words bother specific people. There are about three words that when someone says just really REALLY bother me. faggot just happens to be one of them. So for me, his particular choice of words in this case is especially disappointing to me.

Re: Andre at RG

well, fuck Agassi. I won't defend his use of words. That word personally offends me as well.

However, bunk, if you are always "disappointed" in Andre maybe you are expecting him to be something he never was.

He has always been a combination of thoughtful humanitarian and temperamental jerk.

It's too late for me to stop supporting him completely however; it's a bad habit of mine.

lol.... well clearly I didn't know this about him lol. same thing sort of with the whole Mardy incident. It wasn't so much the fist pump, it was who he did it to - someone who idolized him. It was just irresponsible - beyond being a jerk. If he'd done it to someone else maybe it'd just be something like that but there's just something upsetting about the fact that it was someone who really looked up to him. Can't help it

Pffft. That fist pump was nothing. I agree with Andre doing THAT. Fish brought it on himself. Andre didnt know! Fish is an asshole anyway, and deserved it.

Re: Andre at RG

Andre will only be beaten by the best clay players. His lack of clay practice wont help though. But since Andre is one of the most talented players ever, i think he'll get atleast win #800. GO ANDRE!!

Re: Andre at RG

He has no chance of winning it, and to make the QFs again, he will need the same lucky draws he has had in recent years, yes he may have lost to Coria and Ferrero, but apart from Squillari (at the time) and maybe Robredo he has hardly beaten anyone.

2003- Agassi beat Beck, Ancic, Malisse and Saretta before he getting slapped by Coria
2002- He beat Prodon, David Sanchez (retirement), Robredo and Mathieu.
2001- Johansson (shit on clay), Boutter( not much better), Meligieni and Squillari

Agassi has always been like that, and so it's not surprising that he would say something like this, of course this doesn't mean it was a good thing to do of course.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
