Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I'd rather not do one again, but if all else fails I could do Bucharest.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I am wanting to get some preparations for Bucharest. So I should be using the ranking points as of now or on Sept 11?

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

The ranking list used for PAW is the same list used for the main draw, so for tournaments that start on Monday it's the one of the previous week, or in the case of grand slam 2 weeks before.
You can't wait until a new ranking is published because scoring points should be published no later than the previous night to allow players sufficient time to post their picks.

The only tournaments that use the ranking of the same week are Indian Wells and Miami, because they start later in the week.

PAW Results
Winner: 2006 - Acapulco, Portschach, 2005 - Marseille, Valencia, Bastad, Paris Bercy, 2004 - Kitzbuhel
Runner-up: 2005 - Doha, Estoril, 2004 - Indian Wells, Hamburg, Halle, Paris Bercy
Semifinal: 2004 - Houston, Casablanca, Nottingham, Stuttgart, Cincinnati

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I would be available to manage a tournament on the week of Oct 23 (St.Pete, Lyon or Basel). I don't mind which as long as there aren't too many players (up to 40 is fine).

Also, I would like to do the Masters Cup.

That's what I thought nitsansh and that works very well for me, so thanks.

BTW, we should set the rules of qualification to TMC. I've already spoke to Cervantes about that, and we have noticed that last year we had the problem that too many players finished with the same score, so maybe better if there would be less players this year.
Which of the following options do you suggest as a qualification factor to YEC?

A. TOP 7 + 1 GS Winner (ranked 8-20)
B. TOP 8
C. TOP 15 + 1 GS Winner (ranked 16-20)
D. TOP 15 + 1 GS Winner (ranked 16-40)
E. TOP 16
F. Other option (what kind?)

Well since there were problems with the high number of players last year, I'd suggest it to have 8 players this year (plus it would make the TMC more realistic).

Then I'd vote for the option B, to reward the players who were more consistent throughout the year, instead of someone who had a great run in a Slam but didn't achieve much outside it.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I don't see a reason to reduce the # of players to 8.
It was fine with 16.
Now we have tie break rules so there is smaller chance for ties.
We can add another TB rule if that's a problem. I suggest that if there are ties not resolved by the usual rules, ranking will be determined by ranking in the Champions Race.

BTW... entry to the Masters Cup is determined by Champions Race ranking and not the entry ranking.

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I'll take St. Peterburg. It doesn't seem to be too crowded... just 2 commitments so far...

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I have formulas set up in an Excel workbook so after I put in all the players I just have to copy the picks and then plug in the points after the matches are played - everything calculates on it's own and then I just do a quick sort to do the standing. I would be more than happy to email it to anyone.

That said I have no problem doing the bigger events and could do Madrid if no Europeans want to run it.

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

clansman (obviously not paying attention to the rules ) requested wildcards in both Beijing and Bucharest and posted picks.

So what do we do? Let him play the tournament where he first requested the WC?
