Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

and does someone still go through the commitments and sends the manager the full list, or does the manager have to go to through the thread and pick out the commitments himself/herself?

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

Indian Wells and Miami both have 19 picks, since there are 96 players. Tournaments with up to 64 players have 16 picks.

PAW Results
Winner: 2006 - Acapulco, Portschach, 2005 - Marseille, Valencia, Bastad, Paris Bercy, 2004 - Kitzbuhel
Runner-up: 2005 - Doha, Estoril, 2004 - Indian Wells, Hamburg, Halle, Paris Bercy
Semifinal: 2004 - Houston, Casablanca, Nottingham, Stuttgart, Cincinnati

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I am new to PAW and I have a question. I see that in their signature people put their paw results (eg QF-Wimbledon) etc. How do I work out what I came in my tournaments? I finished 16th at Acapulco. So what round does this mean I made?
Thanks

From the PAW Ranking Points thread:

The ranking points of tournaments in classes IS600, IS800 and IS1000/ISG800 will be determined by the # of players commited to the tournament at Midnight on the last Saturday prior to the tournament. If there are at least 40 commitments, the 64 players chart should be used. If there are 39 or less commitments, the 32 players version will be used.

For example, on the week of Jan 2nd, Doha has (at this moment) 46 commitments, so ranking points for 64 players will be awarded.

For the time being, all IS400 tournaments will award points for 32 players, as there are no tournaments on the ATP tour which have a larger field. All ISG1000 tournaments award points for 64 players.
I'm sorry, but I haven't applied these rules thusfar. You mentioned it once to me and I thought it was a good idea. But since I never heard about it afterwards I assumed we kept the old point system, more so since it was never discussed in the manager thread (as far as I know).

Question now is: do we apply this new point system from this moment? or do we keep using the old system for the entire year?

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

I think any proposed changes to how the game is played/managed needs to brought up in this thread and discussed.

I personally feel that the points should only be changed for weeks when there is only tournament - for example, the 9 Masters events and New Haven. I think if we extend the points for the multi-tournament weeks it will encourage everyone to play the same tournament in order to raise the points awarded for winning.

Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

There is no difference at the top. The difference is from 17th place downward, and the main differerence is that 64 players can get ranking pts rather than 32.

For example:
Rankings Points for ISG800/IS1000 (32):
Code:
1st ---- 250 ..... 9th ---- 55 ...... 17th --- 23 ...... 25th --- 11
2nd ---- 175 ..... 10th --- 51 ...... 18th --- 22 ...... 26th --- 10
3rd ---- 142 ..... 11th --- 46 ...... 19th --- 20 ...... 27th --- 8
4th ---- 110 ..... 12th --- 42 ...... 20th --- 19 ...... 28th --- 7
5th ---- 97 ...... 13th --- 38 ...... 21st --- 17 ...... 29th --- 5
6th ---- 85 ...... 14th --- 33 ...... 22nd --- 16 ...... 30th --- 4
7th ---- 72 ...... 15th --- 29 ...... 23rd --- 14 ...... 31st --- 2
8th ---- 60 ...... 16th --- 25 ...... 24th --- 13 ...... 32nd --- 1

Rankings Points for ISG800/IS1000 (64):
Code:
1st ---- 250 ..... 9th ---- 55 ...... 17th --- 24 ...... 25th --- 19
2nd ---- 175 ..... 10th --- 51 ...... 18th --- 23 ...... 26th --- 18
3rd ---- 142 ..... 11th --- 46 ...... 19th --- 23 ...... 27th --- 18
4th ---- 110 ..... 12th --- 42 ...... 20th --- 22 ...... 28th --- 17
5th ---- 97 ...... 13th --- 38 ...... 21st --- 21 ...... 29th --- 16
6th ---- 85 ...... 14th --- 33 ...... 22nd --- 21 ...... 30th --- 16
7th ---- 72 ...... 15th --- 29 ...... 23rd --- 20 ...... 31st --- 15
8th ---- 60 ...... 16th --- 25 ...... 24th --- 20 ...... 32nd --- 15

33rd --- 14 ...... 41st --- 11 ...... 49th --- 7 ....... 57th --- 4
34th --- 14 ...... 42nd --- 10 ...... 50th --- 7 ....... 58th --- 3
35th --- 13 ...... 43rd --- 10 ...... 51st --- 6 ....... 59th --- 3
36th --- 13 ...... 44th --- 9 ....... 52nd --- 6 ....... 60th --- 2
37th --- 12 ...... 45th --- 9 ....... 53rd --- 5 ....... 61st --- 2
38th --- 12 ...... 46th --- 8 ....... 54th --- 5 ....... 62nd --- 1
39th --- 11 ...... 47th --- 8 ....... 55th --- 4 ....... 63rd --- 1
40th --- 11 ...... 48th --- 8 ....... 56th --- 4 ....... 64th --- 1

Re: PAW ATP Managers Thread

hi all!

I'd like to help with managing tournaments
I can start in May (Estoril or Munich, I prefer Es)
or I can take over one of April's tournaments (Valencia, Barcelona, Casablanca) if someone resign
also I can help making Monte Carlo masters

cause I've much more time in April and first two weeks of May than in later months

I think that I know how to do everything (scoring points, tables etc..), the only problem could be with late picks (I can't, like everyone I suppose sit all day and look whether pick was on time or not)

We don't sit all day in front of computer as well
We rely on the scoring thread (hopefully there will be live score) to determine whether a pick is late or not.

Welcome btw and thanks for helping out

I'm managing it. Sorry, I really thought the main draw wasn't starting until Friday like in Indian Wells.

Currently in the middle of a snow storm on the 2nd day of spring.

I'll do the thread at lunch, that's about 4-5 hours from now.
