2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

It's seems that according to the ATP's moves, we need to change the PAW ranking points and their distribution.
We can do it using the help of WTA PAW ranking system ( posted by our friend sdtoot ).

For 2009 we have 4 groups of points:

1. ATP World Tour 250
2. ATP World Tour 500
3. ATP World Tour Masters 1000
4. Grand Slam

Any suggestions?

Re: 2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

Regarding to the integration of the 2009 ranking points scores into the 2008/09 entry rankings, I suggest the ranking to work by the same rules as previously, another words entry ranking points are gained by the points from 2009 week and decreased by the points from 2008 appropriate week (tournament).

Re: 2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

Can every player give suggestions?

Don't change the points system. If it isn't enough the ATP screwing the circuit, do we need to actually screw such a nice game too?

A 500 tournament hasn't always got a 64 draw, right? Like Rotterdam, that's 32.

Re: 2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

I think we should stay with the ranking system, which we've had until now. High scoring points in ATP won't prove in PAW. We unfortunately have much too high probability of an accidental winning, which is rather absent in ATP.

Re: 2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

I agree it's a good idea not to change the PAW points. The only unclear thing for me is how to map the tournaments to the correct points table. Let's take Doha, for example - should we use the 175, 200, 225 or 250 points table? And what about ATP 500 tournaments? We can't use the 500 points table because that will be for ATP 1000 tournaments.

The first solution that comes to my mind is to apply the 175 or 200 table for all ATP 250 tournaments and the 350 table for ATP 500 tournaments. Do you think that would work?

It seems fine to me assuming that there will also be 32-player versions for ATP 250 and 500 tournaments

Re: 2009 PAW Ranking Points Distribution

The only way to incorporate the new higher ATP ranking points system is to double up all the PAW ranking points from the 2008 season, so that the scenario described by scarecrows cannot happen. No doubt this is a massive task for robus, so I say we go with the ranking points suggested by robus in post #9. As -Evita- has suggested, it is also probably a good idea to include ranking points for 32 player draws in the ATP 250 and 500 tournaments.

I will delete the ranking points from my post #3 to avoid any further confusion.

don't we give too much for "250"?
it's 1/5 points of GS for a winner, ATP gives 1/8
