Main Draw!

It's out

http://www.atptennis.com/posting/2004/403/MDS.pdf

Would take forever and a day to copy and type here so I'll wait to bother until the tourney site puts up the text version (unless someone wants to take the time to do it first lol)

Re: Main Draw!

I'll probably have a go, I did it for IW... isn't the Miami site the most useless, ugliest tennis website on the planet? As you might expect given the sponsor, it looks exactly like a financial business site. And boy, they take their time putting up the draw.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Main Draw!

last night they actually had the qualie draw before the ATP had the PDF up, but today it's the reverse.

Feel free to go for it lol, I'm just too lazy and have class in a few minutes.

Lopez against the winner of Arazi-Ascione, with Grosjean awaiting in the seeded round. Main seed in that section is Schuettler.

Re: Main Draw!

Thanks bunk!

Nalbandian the unlucky one potentially drawing Safin his second match.

Hewitt has a fairly easy draw for the first few rounds, so maybe he can get his "footing" back. Could face Henman, but Tim has never posed a problem for Lleyton.

Re: Re: Main Draw!

Eek, I was just reading the thread in the Nalbandian forum about his return in Miami and they were hoping he didn't draw Safin early on... that said, Safin hasn't been doing much since the AO, so it could be a little closer than their previous encounters.

Henman got screwed, he'll surely lose to Hewitt in the round of 16 - if Hewitt can't get through Soderling/Pavel/Massu then he really is in bad form. And would you believe it, the winner of that would most likely play Federer. He just can't avoid 'em, it seems! Very juicy match-up with Nadal on the cards, although there are also good first rounds such as Escude and Ivanisevic, Enqvist and Lapentti, Canas and Haas... there's no way Schalken is going to beat either of them, I just know it.

Re: Main Draw!

It seems like a pretty good balanced draw. Sure, some quarters are harder than others, but it seems pretty even at first glance.

Re: Re: Main Draw!

Yes, you're right, there's no one top player who seems to have it ridiculously harder than anyone else... although I would suggest that Agassi again has a pretty nice draw compared to some of his challengers for the title.

Re: Main Draw!

lol I wonder if it's because Andre's draws are all really that easy, or if there are just fewer guys who are capable of beating him even at this point.

Though if David is back and can get through we know he can beat Andre, and there are some other people in that quarter who ought to be able to give him a match. Then again this surface favors him heavily, so it's hard to know.

Re: Re: Main Draw!

To be fair it's not as though there are many players out there, even in the Top 10, who can beat Agassi in Miami, but you know all those dangerous unseeded floaters, the Dents, the Gonzalezes, the Escudes, etc? Well, you never see 'em anywhere near Agassi's section. No, I'm not trying to suggest that it's rigged or anything, but it's worthy of note. Possible tricky encounter with Mirnyi, of course, but Kuerten, Srichaphan, Verkerk are in all something of a slump at the moment.

Re: Main Draw!

Andre's immediate section is not so bad, although I agree that Mirnyi is dangerous (especially if he is smart about when to approach the net, lol).

But Andre has Safin and Nalbandian in his quarter, and both of them are very dangerous.
