Re: Next Stop.......Dubai

Hello everyone,

Somebody mentioned on a different site that David is out until Miami. I thought he was coming back next week in Dubai...

Anyone have the latest news on how he's doing, and whether he really is playing in the UAE?

Thanks,
Jo

Where did you read that? Newspapers here are saying that he'll play in Dubai, and after that in Idian Wells and Miami.

It was at a tennis game site, someone quoted him as saying last week in BA: "My idea is to be fully recovered for Miami and in the meantime I am working in tonification and physical sessions".

No official source, that's why I asked here. It did make me wonder, because I'd read what you guys were discussing and I thought he'd be back next week. I guess we have to wait until the Dubai draw comes out then to be really sure.

I'd be surprised if he missed IW though.

That is so weird! I haven't heard that at all, I'll check the newspapers though. Thanks a lot!

So far, he's still on for Dubai-and Indian Wells. Unless he hurts himself again, or becomes sick, he will be at these venues....

Ok, this is what I found. David said this on Feb 16th, when he went to the Bs As tournament:
"It wasn't even a strain. It's still a little swollen. I'll see if I play in Dubai. I started doing gym again and I'm putting ice and doing ultrasound".

Oh, so he's pronounced fit enough to play. Heck, that was a week ago, so he should be OK-provided that he didn't hurt SOMETHING ELSE!!!!

I highly doubt that, we would have heard something by now, and even Coria's considering playing in doubles with him.
Anyway, the draw should be out this week-end, so we'll know if he plays very soon.

OMG - now I'm really worried - this is the first I've heard of this. It would be awful to miss IW as well - so many points to lose , but surely he said in Buenos Aires that he was planning Dubai?

Actually he didn't say anything at all. But again, if Coria is planning on playing doubles with David that means he's planning on going! Otherwise he wouldn't have said anything, don't you think?

I certainly hope so! I was just thinking about the interview you have already quoted from where he said he hoped to be ready for Dubai. I couldn't bear an injury prone year like Marat had last year

Ok, this is what I think: That quote from David about playing in Miami and not in Dubai was made in the same day as the one I posted. He was sure he was gonna be ready for Miami, but not so sure about Dubai. But if Coria said that it's possible they'll play in doubles together(and I read that today again from another respecable newspaper)that means he ready...As I said before, all we can do is wait till the draw is out, because there's nothing official yet.
