Re: Davis Cup

The DC begins 7/15, so I imagine they will fly out the weekend before to get themselves acclimated to everything.

Re: Davis Cup

I am hoping ARG can defeat AUS -- a tall order but there's always hope!

Re: Davis Cup

wel for the Aussies it seems that Phili is out, so far Hewitt, Arthurs, Peter Luczak and Chris Guccione are in the team.

Think Argentina still has a good change

Re: Davis Cup

Philippoussis is out. So this will be the Australian team: Hewitt, Arthurs, Guccione and Luczak.

Like in the series against the Czechs, Coria was the first singlist to start training. With a blister he started training with the doblists. Puerta is suffering with a sore throat and Nalbandian joins the team today. Also today, Mancini will give a formal list of 4 players, however the official list will be given after the training sessions in Australia.

Re: Davis Cup

Actually, Mancini wanted Philippoussis to play and not Arthurs cause according to him, Wayne is more consistant.

Re: Davis Cup

Many news!!!!
The team confirmed so far is: David, Guillermo and Etlis. Then, Mancini will confirm who's gonna play: if Mariano or Rodriguez.
They will all be going to Australia tomorrow. And they'll start training in the Olympic Stadium on Friday.
There was a press conference today, with the whole team, and Mancini said that he's well aware that Australia is the favourite, however Argentina will give them a battle. He also confirmed Coria and David for the singles, and he'll decide the doubles team in Sydney. But it will be built by two of these three guys: Etlis, Rodriguez or Puerta.
David said: "without Philippoussis and Woodbridge, Australia is not the same. They always inspire respect. Besides, it's possible that Hewitt plays singles and doubles, so that should make him tired."
Coria said: "My aspiration is to beat Hewitt...or at least make him tired. We're not favourites, but we have chances."

Re: Davis Cup

According to the Australian Captain, Arthurs and Hewitt will define all the matches. Guccione and Luczak will go as support.
