Re: David in Davis Cup matches, Buenos Aires, Argentina April 6-8, 2012

Date: 06 Apr - 08 Apr 2012
Venue: Parque Roca, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Start times:
Day 1: 1030 hrs (1330 hrs GMT)
Day 2: 1200 hrs (1500 hrs GMT)
Day 3: 1030 hrs (1330 hrs GMT)
Surface: Clay (Red Clay), Outdoor

TIE PREVIEW

Argentina and Croatia are meeting for a third time with both their previous encounters also coming at this stage of the competition in 2002 and 2006. On each previous occasion the tie has come down to the smallest of margins with Argentina coming out on top by virtue of a fifth rubber victory.
The Argentine team holds the record for most number of finals contested without winning the trophy and that continued in 2011 when they were defeated by Spain at the final hurdle. Their attempt to rid themselves of this unfortunate statistic began in comprehensive fashion against Germany romping to a 4-1 win.
Croatia has not lost on their travels since a match in Great Britain back in 2007, although they have only played two away ties in this time. In contrast to the ease with which Argentina won, the Balkan nation faced a stiff task travelling to Hyogo, Japan. Ivo Karlovic was their hero in the fifth rubber, having also won his opening singles and paired with Ivan Dodig for doubles success, as they took a 3-2 victory.

ALL-TIME HEAD TO HEAD
Argentina 2 Croatia 0

www.daviscup.com

Nalbandian, who has dropped to No. 50 in the rankings, seems to save his best tennis for Davis Cup and goes into this tie with an incredible 36-10 win-loss record from 23 ties. In the last four years he has only lost one singles rubber, against Gael Monfils.
Despite Nalbandian’s impressive Davis Cup form, Monaco is actually Argentina’s second highest ranked player at No. 21 and is expected to feature on the singles court at some stage.
Schwank, on the other hand, is the side’s doubles specialist and his most likely partner is Nalbandian. The pair have successfully teamed up in Argentina’s last two ties against Spain and Germany.

Re: David in Davis Cup matches, Buenos Aires, Argentina April 6-8, 2012

Del Potro will play vs Cilic

Now Argentina leads 2-1 and they need only one win !

If Del Potro will beat Cilic, David (he is playing after Del Potro's match),
can just "retire", but if not- David has to beat Croatian GIANT Ivo
