Good win David, even if Ljubo was injured (right adductor).
Hope he can beat Nadal now

Re: How it will be in US Open 2011 August 29-September11?

I think he played much better than expected. Too bad he lost the 1st set. Then of course he kind of gave up in the second set, but came back to fight strongly in 3rd set. I think even if he won the 1st set, Nadal would still come back to win it in 4 sets. Too bad Nalby is playing against someone who hardly makes unforced errors.

I am just wondering if Nalby's opponent yesterday was Federer, he might have caused an upset or lost in tight 5 sets.

I hope he will NOT suffer from another injury again + will take care of his body. The 3 matches at US open would help him get used to playing 5-set matches and get ready for Davis Cup.

And with his rankings outside the top 70, he is now not eligible to play those Masters Cup events (unless he asked for wildcards, but I hope he wont), and he virtually has no chance in these events. I hope he would play those smaller Asian hard courts + European indoor tournaments, so as to get more match practice + climb up the rankings + be prepared for 2012.

I really hope he could finally play a full-time schedule in 2012 (first time to be 100% healthy since 2007?) and does better in GS. Can't believe he lasted reached a Grand Slam QF in 2006 French, and last reached the 4th round in 2007 French...

I agree I see good signs about Nalby
The only question is : time is not on his side , and that's a big question
It's just a pitty, especially if you follow him from his teenage

An Interview With: David Nalbandian

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Q. First of all, what are your thoughts on how Rafa is playing right now? How would you describe the match today?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: I think I play a good first set. I had my chances. I couldn't take it. Rafa was I think he played good. He didn't do a lot of mistakes, which is normal in his game. I think he played very good, as well.

Q. What are your thoughts about his level in general right now? Obviously he's lost the No. 1 ranking to Djokovic. How do you see things shaping up here for the second week at the Open?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: Well, he's a great fighter, so he's gonna fight every day. I believe that Rafa can improve a little bit more, and even during this week. Today was a little windy, a little tough to play sometimes. But I think he can play better.

Q. About Rafa, forgive me if you addressed this: What do you think of his serve today? How effective was that? It seemed a little more conservative sometimes.

DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, I think he tried to play with first serve today, maybe some tactical things.

Q. Going for the percentage?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, I think so. Well, I don't know. You have to ask him.
