My guess is that it is not serious. His main problem today so far is hitting UFEs long, especially on easy service returns he would usually be nailing. Maybe the ankle has been preventing him from turning on those serves. I think he tweaked it, but he should be ok.

2-1 and an easy service hold. Just an FYI, he has been threatening the De Voest service almost every game, but then he hits an UFE out of nowhere, and lets De Voest survive. But I would guess he has a sizable edge in total points right now.
Okay, good for him then. I'm watching the live stream right now and as you said he is making quiet a lot of UEs by hitting too long.

He looks better than De Voest but seems like he plays only at 10%

VAMOS DAVID AND COME ON ANDRE AND ALLEZ JO !!

Re: David Nalbandian in US Open, August 30 - September 12, 2010.

Another UFE long and Nalby smashes his racquet as he loses his serve! He is walking gingerly on that ankle too. Maybe he needs to get angry, but I am worried he is hurt.

Re: David Nalbandian in US Open, August 30 - September 12, 2010.

He lost the second set. His UFE count must be sickening.

De Voest game plan seems to be to keep the ball in play until Nalby hits it long. This should not be working and Nalby should be Robredoing him; but today it is working so far.

Much better!!!!!!!! He breaks Rik at love in first game of the third set! 1-0

Finally, he is creaming that serve and keeping it in court! Phew!

Maybe ankle is starting to feel better?

Re: David Nalbandian in US Open, August 30 - September 12, 2010.

He is suddenly looking like himself again. Ankle does not seem to bothering his swing as it was in the second set.

3-1 and De Voest barely got that one game.

Re: David Nalbandian in US Open, August 30 - September 12, 2010.

He is destroying De Voest both in Unforced Errors and Winners.

-35 winners for Nalby, but 43 unforced errors.

-De Voest 13 winners, but only 24 UFEs.

De Voest is a ball returning machine. All he does is keep the ball in play. This match is on Nalby's racquet if he stops hitting so many UFEs.

7-6, 3-6, 4-2
