He gets ahead of himself too much. Overthinking. He needs to stay in the moment.

Davydenko two points away. Triple MP for Davydenko.

Re: Monte Carlo 2009

40-15...one saved.
40-30...two saved.

And Davydenko wins it- 6-4 5-7 6-3. David allowed him to win four games in a row. What happened there?

Re: Monte Carlo 2009

Ahh, fuck it... I wasn't expecting even R16 with his serve anyway.

Re: Monte Carlo 2009

It's a shame that David wasn't able to win his match today (I really would have liked to have seen him play later this afternoon). It looked like it was a good contest and that David had his chances, but wasn't able to string enough together or go on some sort of brief run of games.

That too. Twice a break up in the first and third sets. With a little better serve he would have win this in straights.

Re: Monte Carlo 2009

Maybe It's a bit fortunate to just follow the score board. But it also got me nervous enough. I chose to flee from score board at one point(3-2 or so) in the 3rd. I was not daring enough

Wish him all the best...

Yeah, it's hard to feel in control of a match or make use of momentum I think when you're struggling all the time on serve. But at least he couldn't have gotten too much down on himself, keeping the match close.

Maybe one thing to consider for David to do would be to use more of the three-quarter pace kick serves out wide, a higher percentage play if he's having to resort to second serves too much.

He is too stubborn for that, he keeps pushing at first serves looking for those motions that Jaite implanted in him year and a half ago. Every now and that he is able to reproduce it but not even nearly consistent.

Yeah I know. He doesn't even generate good pace on it anyway unless if he times it well on his racquet. In my opinion, he hits too many serves down the T instead of going out wide as well.

Re: Monte Carlo 2009

I doubt there's an elite professional athlete alive with a weaker mental game than david.

Hitting 3/4 pace first serves probably wouldn't be a good tactic against Davydenko, he loves rhythm, better off keeping him guessing.
