David played very well to save those 7 match points, serving out wide and playing patiently, but he was clearly hanging on for dear life. Almagro is simply better than him on this surface at the moment. His dropshot attempts were woeful.

Yeah, really dramatic at the end of the second set. In a way, he saved all of those match points in such a positive manner (probably the highlight of the match for me) but that he had to save that many showed that he couldn't string anything together. That forehand dropshot he attempted before the loss of the match point in that final game was annoying.

But it was a poor match from David in general really, too inconsistent. I think Almagro played a solid match, but not as well as he can play.

I noticed that Almagro was able to force a lot of errors going hard to David's forehand side. His movement to that side is definitely a weakness.

I guess we won't be seeing him again until the French Open now. Don't have a clue what to expect there.

Opposed to all the other tournaments where we do have a clue? (Isn't he playing in Hamburg?)
Oh well, he found a better opponent today. End of story. Hopefully he does a lot better at RG. Who knows? He plays his best tennis when no one expects him to.

Vamos David and Juan Carlos

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid it will never truely begin.

True, but there is a lot more curiosity for me surrounding the Grand Slams.

Usually if he lasts a couple of rounds (in any tournament), it consists of a mixed bag of performances.

No, he isn't playing Hamburg.

I'm not that surprised. Nicolas is a great player on clay and David is David

Andy Murray.

Same for me.
As for Roland Garros, I don't expect great things from David.
It's Wimbledon I'm looking forward to. Anyway, David has a tough season ahead.
