Re: David at Halle

Well...if he's staying in Europe that may be a good sign. I so hope he can play Wimbeldon. The tournament will really not be nearly as much fun for me to watch without him in it. If he does make it to Wimbeldon- I really think that he will go far.

Thank you for your welcome, that raises up my spirits a little...I wouldn't have joined on a happier day, it's NOW David needs support, not when everything is OK, so I wanted to tell you I'm supporting him as well. The news doesn't seem that bad if David's not back to Argentina yet, at least...hope it is...

Yes - you are right Carlita - it is in the bad times that people need to know they have our love and support. As for the news well I am a natural born pessimist, so I won't be confident til I see David walk out on that court in Wimbledon. My own view is that he won't be fit enough to play, but that he is so desparate not to miss Wimbledon that he wants to delay any announcement for as as long as possible in case he makes an incredible recovery - remember Indian Wells and Miami where he wanted to play and in the end his Team had to stop him?

Re: David at Halle

I just wonder how his injury came. He looked quit fit at RG semis, though he lost to gaudio in 3 sets, I don't think it was because of his injury but his lack of confidence in the end.

To withdraw from Halle is not a bad idea. I believe he will make a remarkable comeback in the All England Lawn Club!

Re: David at Halle

I guess the pain around his rib right now so short after the injury is very strong and it is hard to make ANY kind of prediciton. He will probably wait as long as possible as you said Rosie.
If the doctors tell him that at WImby this will still hurt but he can't do any further damage by playing he might decide to use painkillers like Ferrero did at the FO.
I hope he is careful, of course Wimby is important but with the Olympics and the USO so close afterwards it is probably better to let the injury completly heal and not risk anything,

Re: David at Halle

Sounds reasonable! Aleta!

If he really withdraws from Wimby, then the only good thing for me is that I won't bother watching tv till midnight. I've done too much midnight TV watching for RG...

Re: David at Halle

BTW since you asked when this injury happened. Remember at 5 all in the fourth set against Guga ? David had just broken back but suddenly he serves two double faults in a row and then he stretched is shoulder/back area awkwardly. I think it happened right before those two double faults in one of the rallies, don't know how exactly but his serve was never the same.

I remember following that match, watching tv and commenting it in the msn with some other fans and someone said that at that moment, but I didn't pay attention to it at all. Apparenty his service speed was down too...He shouldn't have played against Gastón...
And I guess it's true, he shouldn't risk anything with the Olympics and the USO so close...
I'm so tired of these stupid injuries

Re: David at Halle

Yes me too Jazz, we followed the match and it was also something that our commantator told here, that his serve went down from 178 till 136(and lower..but I can understand why he played against Gaudio, it was a big acievement, and its a semi of course you want to play that, look at Coria-in de final- he could practicly stop in the 3 set, after having the cramps, and he probably would have done it if it was not a big tournament, but this is RG, a GS and you want to show your best, and well maybe at that time, David did not feel that much of the pain- before he started-and just wanted to give it a try..and well like Rosie tells, he is sometimes a little bit subborn, not even sure if even his bro and coach could stop David from playing against Gaudio

Re: David at Halle

Re: David at Halle

The only way David was not going to play against Gaudio, was if he couldn't walk at all. It's a GS semi final and they will do whatever it takes to play in these huge matches.

Hopefully he can play Wimbledon, but really he needs to think about some serious improving to other parts of the game, and the only positive is that he has hardly any points to defend after the US Open. The health is more important than the ranking.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Jazz, what a piece of terrible news from you i can't believe it's true....i am always looking forward to his Wimby, and never think the injury could be that serious. i just ask one of my friends who is a medical student, and she said the contracture could be healed by about 10 days or more if it's treated in time. so at that time, i think he still has the chance of wimby, but now maybe it's different for a player, coz he needs more time to recovery to the fit playing. I hope it won't be true. it seems we could go back to that "dark March" this year.

Re: David at Halle

well, I guess that we have to wait untill somebody tell anything about David, but this wait is killing me!!!!
Is true Jazz he has to take care, but the Olimpycs and the USO are so important to David as Wimbledon, so i gues he´ll try to be there......
