Well Ma. - I was there and the truth is that David just didn't play very well - I guess everyone is entitled to a bad day once in a while, and that was his. He seemed a little slow and his serve was appaling - the first serve percentage seemed to be diabolical. It was quite chilly there and had been raining, so that court was slow and the balls heavy, and he seemed very perturbed by the weather conditions, especially the wind which was quite "swirly" at times. Vliegen played well, but if I'm honest I think David under-estimated him a little until it was too late - it was a great win for Vliegen and he didn't lose his nerve in the important points. As for David - better luck in Rome and PLEASE work on that serve of yours!

Re: Barcelona

Thanx for that report, Rosie.

I'm sorry to read that David underestimated the belgian guy....no one must be underestimated nowadays.

Anyway as I said, it was something a bit shocking, you know....on Saturday I watched on TV the semifinal match between Robredo and Vliegen, and this last one was nothing near to be a "rival" for someone like David.

But well, we can't do anything right now. Hope you've got fun despite David's loss, Rosie

Aren't all love stories destined to fail?

I agree with you. I was saying that just the other day when he was playing. That was a bad thing to do-especially against someone whom he never played. He needs to work on that serve badly, and stop getting tight and nervous when he is ahead....
