Re: Wild Cards

These are the players that didn't make the cut and their current ranking as of today (age in parentheses):

1. Ram, Rajeev 104 (29)
2. Odesnik, Wayne 111 (27)
3. Williams, Rhyne 121 (22)
4. Smyczek, Tim 124 (25)
5. Harrison, Ryan 132 (21)
6. Alex Kuznetsov 136 (26)
7. Reynolds, Bobby 138 (31)
8. Bradley Klahn 154 (will be 23 next month)
9. Young, Donald 155 (will be 24 tomorrow)
10. Baker, Brian 188 (28)
11. Austin Krajicek 210 (turned 23 last month)
12. Ginepri, Robby 234 (30)
13. Tennys Sandgren 253 (turned 22 today)
14. Daniel Kosakowski 295 (21)
15. Bjorn Fratangelo 336 (turned 20 couple of days ago )
16. Harrison, Christian 373 (19)

Ram will most likely get in directly since he is the No.1 alternate. Odesnik is certainly not gonna get one unless he wins the Pro Circuit wildcard b/c of his sour relationship with the USTA.

I think the 4 free wildcards will go to :

1) Ryan Harrison
2) Rhyne Williams
3) Brian Baker (will probably be a public outcry if he doesn't get one based on his situation)
4) Tim Smyczek or Bradley Klahn

Things can change quickly based on everyone's performance over the next couple of weeks.

Candidates for QWC
Ginepri, Sandgren (if they don't get in on their own)
Kosakowski (not sure what is going on with him though, has not played in a while and is not on any upcoming list)
Christian Harrison
Bjorn Fratangelo
Mitchell Krueger
Dennis Novikov
Jarmere Jenkins (NCAA Finalist)
Mitchell Frank
Stefan Kozlov

Rhyne Williams
Brian Baker Welcome Back
Jared Donaldson

Re: Wild Cards

C Harrison, Fratangelo and Jenkins should be definite locks for QWCs.

It will be really interesting to see who the FFT picks, because I don't think there is a stand-out candidate. Or even a good candidate, frankly. It might be Pouille, especially seeing as he won a match at the French Open, but it's slim pickings.

Top-ranked French players (without DE):

109 Rufin
118 Gicquel
146 Robert
165 Ouanna
166 Guez
182 Serra
218 Herbert
223 Eysseric
226 Millot
247 Pouille
267 Marie
269 Dasnieres De Veigy
273 Teixeira

Top-ranked Australian players:

117 Ebden
152 Millman
167 Duckworth
193 Reid
211 Barton
214 Kyrgios
227 Groth
252 Jones
254 Mitchell

Much more choice for the Australians.

Re: Wild Cards

The only possible reason that Baker didn't use his protected ranking here was if he was guaranteed a Main Draw WC.

The men's competition, which includes four events (only two count), is only two tournaments in, with the performances at the $100,000 Vancouver and Aptos Challengers in the next two weeks, likely to be the deciding factor. Currently, Binghamton Challenger winner Alex Kuznetsov leads Bradley Klahn, Binghamton finalist and Lexington semifinalist, 80 points to 77. Klahn is in the field at the Vancouver Challenger this week, while Kuznetsov qualified for the main draw at the ATP CitiOpen in Washington DC.

Re: Wild Cards

Klahn will get a MDWC anyway after his perfomance last year. Should be a lock.

I don't think Rufin. He is a clay specialist - no so good on hard.
Pouille, it is hard to say as he is really young.

Why a robert? He is quite good results.
Serra is not bad on hard.. Certainly the results in the next tournaments will be decisive..

TT doubles: - Rank 94 (+175 in 2013)

Robert didn't even get a WC for Roland Garros when his results were also quite good. He is a veteran who has never received much support, in terms of WCs, from the FFT.

France has no good choice, really. It would be a nice statement for the FFT to not award a WC at all.

Does it ever happen?
In my view, FFT takes advantage of the system and always gives a WC, even to a lower player..
I know that British in Wimbledon don't give all the WC. but never heard with FFT..
