No ambiguity for me I'll be cheering for Tommy !

But let's say that in a final against a spanish, I'd be less disappointed if he lost... Tho I'd be very disappointed

I don't care who he plays, Spanish, French, Canadian, Pygmy... if he doesn't win now I'll be having a pretty lousy weekend.

Vamos I say!

Re: *~ The Auckland "don't drink too much beer" cheering thread ~*

Too bad he didn't make it...

But still, on a positive note, a final on hard is already a big thing !
Besides... so far this year, he's always played against Ruben and lost to a Spaniard in final... Is he gonna reach the AO's final ??

What the players said :
"When I play against him, it's always tough. He is at a very good level and he is a very strong player. In the first set he had more chances but in the second and third I played better," said Ferrer “I am very happy. It’s my first tournament on hard court. It’s unbelievable. I won over Tommy. He’s a Top 10 [player] and it’s important for me. Today, I played my best tennis of the week. Every point was at a good level.”
(Erm, I don't get why he's talking about a 3rd set... )

Robredo believed there was nothing he could do about the way Ferrer was playing and how he ran down every ball in every rally.

“David was playing so good. I think playing with wind was better for him because he plays with two-hand backhand and me one, and he doesn’t miss much. He was just a little bit better today and he beat me,” said Robredo.

Wel can't deny I'm thrilled that David has won a title - just sad he had to beat Tommy to do it. Evidently at the begining of the match, Tommy said he wouldn't so much mind if he lost a final to David as opposed to anyone else, because he was his "best friend"

I hope he can put the defeat behind him and do well in Melbourne though. Goid Luck Tomy.

I am also sad that Tommy lost, but I agree that it is much better to loose David than some other player!

Oh, David's his best friend ?! Didn't know that. That's cute. But this must have made the match tougher for them both than I expected...

Yes - must have been And I think the rain delays upset Tommy more than they bothered David. Evidently the match was shown on French TV this afternoon. I friend of mine has recorded it for me and will send me the tape on Monday - so I'll be able to see it for myself.

Tommy played brilliantly, he hit his forehand well, he was serving well, his backhand was great, i realy couldn't pick up on anything he didn't do well. It was a pleasure to see this match live, Tommy is really sweet.(i got his autograph)
