Good morning to all
First of all I hope you're all well
The reason I write this message is painful, but since some of you have shown interest in knowing the latest developments I decided to explain the situation further. I know that for some it will be a shock, because you had no idea of what has occurred in recent weeks with me. However, I hope that you can be elucidated.
Two weeks ago my mother had a strong headache when she woke at dawn. My father took her to the Emergency's at Cascais Hospital and the doctor concluded, erroneously as it came to prove, that everything was just a strong headache. They put my mother with serum and gave her an Algimate. She was prescribed a pill for this kind of situation, from which my mother only took one, because she felt difficulty in walking.
The days passed by and the headache was exacerbated, reaching the point of being impossible to bear. My mother was 4 times in the Parede's Medical Health Center and our family doctor told her to do some blood tests, ultrasound and TAC. However, none of these tests was asked with urgency, having my mom to wait in visible and constant suffering at home by the results.
In the early hours of the night of last Tuesday my mother went again to the Emergency's of Cascais Hospital, given that in less than a day, just in a few hours, her left eye was completely shut. The doctor sent her immediately to Santa Maria's Hospital in Lisbon to be consulted by an Ophthalmologist and do the tests and examinations required for its diagnosis. We had to wait until close to 11:00 am on Wednesday so that my mother was seen by a Neurologist, since during the night they didn't attend the outpatient service. Finally, after observing the results of all examinations they concluded that it was an Aneurysm. For those who don't know an aneurysm is a disease in which a blood vessel is abnormally dilated in the brain. The expansion is caused by a weakness in the wall of an artery or vein of the brain. For this reason, the connection between the optic nerve and brain was not performed, preventing the movement of her left eye.
My mother was immediately hospitalized in Neurology. Yesterday, after the result of the Angiogram the doctors decided that she should be submitted today to a Neurosurgery, despite all the risks involved, in order to keep the affected area and prevent any recurrence. Her health state is very delicate, though stable.
Unfortunately I can't be at her side at the moment and I barely have enough time to give emotional support to my father, because I work on a Full-Time schedule. And to make things even more complicated this week is totally impossible to replace me at work, because the Management of Nomination are in Porto Jóia, a Jelwery event. However, I would like in my little free time to send this message, not only to inform those who have been following the situation, but mainly as a warning to all. For more minor a pain you feel might seem don't hesitate to deal with it and solve the problem.
I promise that once we know more news about it I'll let you all know.
A good weekeend, just rest and enjoy yourselves
