Re: Qualifying Draw

It's a lottery with 2 more players than the number of LL spots available.

I thought the LL order was random at the grand slams

Muñoz-De La Nava: always dangerous in GS qualies, but rarely makes it through. At 31 he has only played two main draws of a Grand Slam.

Re: Qualifying Draw

Struff-Gabashvili is the MOTD for me. Both very inconsistent, but brilliant at their best.

Yes, it's incredible. Specially that his first GS appeareance was last year here at 30 years old. I mean, I feel he has been lurking top 120 forever.
I hope both him and Pablo will go through. Pablo can even do some damage in the MD.

Re: Qualifying Draw

adding on what I did yesterday, rest of my final round picks are Vesely, Pospisil, PCB, Cervenak, Gabashvili, Arguello, Munoz, and Przysiezny. Also switching to Beck over Veic just because.

Pospisil-Dancevic, Gabashvili-Struff and Pryzsienzy-Williams are almost toss-ups, Duckworth-Lajovic too.

Good to see the Americans doing well, Sock, Williams, Kudla, Stevie J all a pleasant surprise.

Re: Qualifying Draw

For 2 or less LL they draw the 4 highest ranked final round losers, for every extra LL spot they add 1 to the draw.

Currently 3 LL spots so they will be a draw with 5 players for 3 spots

I'm surprised with some of the American results as well, but I won't complain
I think Kudla and Williams can qualify. Rhyne has beaten Przysiezny before and his movement on clay is not bad. Sock and Johnson are very inexperienced on this surface compared to their opponents, so I don't like their chances. But they seemed to compete well at grand slams so I won't be too surprised if they win. I hope that at least one of them can get to the maindraw.

Re: Qualifying Draw

Williams should be the favorite even against Przysiezny, who isn't exactly a clay master. But the Pole is having a good year. Kudla will be thankful for the day of rest and recovery, and should win.

Re: Qualifying Draw

My expectations (and hopes) for tomorrow:

Vesely over Robert (Hope: Robert)
Dancevic over Pospisil (Hope: Dancevic)
Darcis over Greul (Don't care)
Riba over Haider-Maurer (Don't care)
Johnson over Ungur (Hope: Ungur)
Beck over Veic (Would be happy with either)
Reister over Dustov (Would be happy with either)
Odesnik over Devvarman (Hope: Devvarman)
Carreño-Busta over Millot (Hope: Carreño-Busta, but would be happy for Millot)
Teixeira over Cervenak (Hope: Teixeira)
Kudla over De Greef (Hope: Kudla)
Struff over Gabashvili (Hope: Struff. Tough match to call)
Arguello over Sock (Hope: not Sock, so therefore Arguello)
Marchenko over Muñoz-De La Nava (Hope: Marchenko)
Williams over Przysiezny (Would be fine with either)
Lajovic over Duckworth (Hope: Lajovic)

I think Johnson will upset Ungur, based largely on the Romanian's unconvincing win over Weintraub. The American might just blow Ungur off the court with his power.

My full support in this final qualifying round is for Stéphane Robert. What an achievement that would be for one of the nicest guys on Tour

Re: Qualifying Draw

Can't give away yet who I think (for TT reasons) but who I hope, and this will change based on tomorrow's differences, is:

Robert, Dancevic, Darcis, Riba, Ungur, Veic, Dustov, Devvarman, Carreno, Cervenak, De Greef, Gabashvili, Arguello, Munoz, Przysiezny, and Lajovic

Horacio Zeballos - Maximo Gonzalez - Eduardo Schwank - Carlos Berlocq - Diego Schwartzman - Facundo Bagnis - all the other Argentinos
