I don't think Andy is afraid to play anyone....he just handled European Joachim at San Jose with little trouble in straight sets....oh, did you know he's ranked number 2 in the world?...

Um yeah, what? He just beat two Belgians and a Swede. Ok... and yea because Andy personally hand-picks his draws. because he definitely would've picked someone who beat him on hardcourts last summer to face in the first round. oooookkkkk

And Freddi, Andy's still ranked #3.

Look at Andy's rank and the rank of the #2 seeded player.

Considering the points involved, that is incredibly weak

Re: Main Draw

Well Andy has been playing Memphis since they gave him a WC in 2001 (where he incidentally lost to Haas in the 1st round), so I wouldn't expect him to stop going there, just the same as the Siebel Open or any of the other places. He's very loyal like that. He may be the highest ranked player by a good amount but it's still a tough field with a tricky draw for the top seeds.

I think Andy's gonna have trouble defending his finalist points.

Re: Re: Main Draw

It's an interesting section, is Roddick's; Martin will test but probably not beat him, and then there's the possibility of a rematch with Haas, the only top player apart from Hewitt who is unbeaten against Roddick and the only one ever to bagel him, at this very tournament... of course Haas has to win a couple of rounds first, and since he's on the comeback trail there's no way he'd beat Roddick, but it would be an interesting match. His countryman Popp is in a terrible slump at the moment, and he completely owns Enqvist if that's who he plays in the second round.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Main Draw

who completely owns Enqvist?

It's an interesting draw period. I wouldn't be overly shocked to see a repeat of today's San Jose final but I wouldn't be too shocked to see Andy go out fairly early either.

SUCH a fuckin dumb remark. arent all tournaments this week offering the same amount of points??? and he's pretty much dominated this tournament, winning it in 2002, finals in 2003, so why would he opt NOT to go there, and go to some other tournament? comments like this are just filled with stupidity and hatred. but wait, aren't the europeans afraid of the americans since they didn't come to memphis oh and Hewitt is european. holy crap i never knew that. stop being an ass, nobody's avoiding nobody, yu chose your own schedule, it's not like they all sit down in a big friendly group and make their schedules to accomodate eachother
