Brands is a good server but not an elite one. He hits the ball hard, but makes errors. And he's not that fast nor that great a volleyer. Sort of a limited player.

Frank isn't what he once was, but when you're 5-2 and *5-3 40-30 match point, and you DF to lose your serve to get broken, that's a major failed opportunity.

I've seen Brands play, and when he's on, like he was at the end of last season and has been to start this season, he's pretty hard to beat, just ask Monfils and Chardy this season, and he almost took out Delpo last season.

Surprising win for Capdeville. I'm definitely, definitely not a fan of him, however, so this result doesn't please me. I would have expected Hernych to take this. But Berankis now has a better chance of coming through.
Yeah, I thought it would be Jan too, Paul won't get into the MD, so all is not lost.

Re: Qualifying Draw

good to see Berankis overcoming his demons and beating dangerous upcoming american. Capdeville should be a much easier task in the final round now

That's a summary of Frank's career in one sentence

Re: Qualifying Draw

Some good matches tonight, but it's tough to watch some of those later

Hoping that Dzumhur can beat Chiudinelli. He showed some improvement comparing to last year

Re: Qualifying Draw

Struff def. De Bakker 6-4 6-1

Expected that match to be much closer. That always looked to be a tough match for both. Good win for the German. He's really starting to pull things together.

Maybe not, de Bakker hasn't looked good in a long time and Stuff has really started to look good lately.

Re: Qualifying Draw

Smyczek def. Barton 3-6 6-4 6-1

More consistent, solid player won. Matt Barton has nice talent but makes too many errors.

Re: Qualifying Draw

De Bakker has looked better the last few months. Of course those results have primarily been on clay. Struff can outhit a lot of players when he's hot.
