The main draw of Sydney is out.
After the withdrawals of Tsonga (injure) and Gasquet (played the final in Doha), we can find Isner as Top seeded players as weel as Simon, Seppi & Verdasco.
in the first part of the draw,
Isner seems clearly the favorite to access to the semi-final. But he was quite injured in the Hopman Cup (retired for the last confrontation against Spain) and I think he will not take any risk in this tournament. Maybe Bautista Agut with his good performances can take advantage of it if he recovers from his long journey from Chennai. But I will be not surprised that he withdraw too. Benneteau (lost in R1 in Brisbane), Andujar (lost in R1 in Doha) & Stepanek (withdrawal in Brisbane) are clearly not in top. It is maybe a chance for one qualifier.
In the second part of the draw
, Verdasco has good chances to reach the semi final. But he shoudl certainly beat Istomin (QF in Brisbane) and Bedene or Anderson (one of the most interesting matches in the R1) or even maybe Chardy.
In the third part of the draw
, we find some interesting players. Seppi will have to face Millman (if he won against Robredo) in R2 - the same Millman that took one set to Murray- then Dimitrov (who confirms with a final in Brisbane) or Granollers (first tournament of the year).
In the last part of the draw
, Simon is the favorite to reach the semi-final. I don't see Nieminen winning against him. Only Tomic (really good level shown in Hopman cup) or Matosevic (great match for a R1 too!!) is strongly able to win over Simon.
So as the last years, I will be not surprised to see an outsider winning this tournament. Isner with his injure, Simon with his disappointing level in brisbane or even Seppi and Verdasco, don't seem in top form. One can imagine Tomic, Anderson, Matosevic or even Nieminen (last year winner) win this tournament.
And you what is your opinion? :P
You can find attach the main draw!
Don't forget the matches in the main draw begin tomorrow!!! Certainly a deadline in 1-2 am CET...
